In this video, I review Miss Fluffy's Rice Cook Book, published in the 1960s. I also prepare one of the recipes from this collection - Pink 'n' Pretty Parfaits.

Where I grew up, the Rice Council had an annual beauty contest for Miss Fluffy Rice.

You did good! Very pretty. I remember getting a few food council type books, pamphlets, might still have one or two. Reminds me of my mom's snow pudding. Layers of cooked and cooled rice (no sugar), crushed pineapple and whipped topping. Two layers of each. Chill. She did it in a big bowl. Was one of my favorite desserts as a child.

OUR NATION TURNS ITS LONELY EYES TO YOU. 😫 UPDATE: After much digging, I can report that Miss Fluffy Rice is currently living her best life at a cozy retirement community in Boca Raton. She reports the weather there is often steamy, but she never gets sticky. Miss Fluffy Rice (she’s retained her professional name to this day) spends her days surrounded by friends enjoying afternoon shuffleboard, evening canasta games, and visits from her grandchildren Jasmine and Arborio.

I know this was 2 years ago but it is pronounced cal-ay. It is an old dessert that people in New Orleans would make on sunday.

I love this cookbook so much I own two copies! A favorite recipe of mine is Rice Picadillo. It’s so basic and yet so delicious. I love Miss Fluffy! ❤ Thanks for celebrating her with a great recipe from the cookbook.

I had a copy of that very cookbook but sold it with a bunch of other vintage cookbooks and booklets this past summer. I too liked the Miss Fluffy graphic. I love vintage books in general and especially cookbooks. I decided it was time to thin things down. Had I discovered your channel earlier, I would have sent them to you!

This was a great recipe. The only thing we did differently was we cooked down some of the strawberries to make a sauce and didn’t use the food coloring. We layered with fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce then the whipped cream rice. Delicious. Thank you Miss Fluffy.

There’s a Norwegian rice dessert my family likes. It has the almond flavoring and a raspberry sauce.

I think I just looked at your copy. Lol! I noticed the blue cover copy I saw was put out by the rice council but was branded with Mahatma and Water Maid rice. It looks like the one that Anna has doesn't have that page. I wonder if regional rice companies could personalize it.

I found two different colors, yellow and blue and then there is a cooking for two version as well. I bought the yellow book off eBay just now lol

An Amish buffet? My father used to my whole family on caravan rides through the back roads of Ohio, and we would always stop for dinner at an Amish restaurant or buffet. Don't know why that stuck out to me.

Sadly they couldn’t afford to pay the artist for more Miss Fluffy appearances because the landscape photos of the foods took up too much of the art budget.

I have advice thats an oldie and completely wrong. While boiling your veggies on the stove leave the lid on so the vitamins dont evaporate into the air.
