Sprinkler heads that are located at elevations lower than the supply line can leak after the watering cycle completes. This results in wasted water and soil erosion. Doug Donahue of Ewing Irrigation demonstrates the water saving benefits of using a check valve equipped sprinkler head to solve this common irrigation problem.

Thank you for the video. Would I need check valves on all of the sprinkler heads? Or just the one that is lower in elevation?

Good question! Any head that is located downhill from the valve may need a CV sprinkler head if enough pressure is generated by the slope. Depending on the type of sprinklers you have installed, the Check Valve may be available separately. So what would be the issue after installing a new rain bird heavy duty valve and after you turn the valve off it makes noise n a little water comes out

Thanks for watching djm93! The valve will make some noise as the diaphragm seals. Unfortunately, without more to go on it's difficult to give you an answer to the symptoms you've described. If my sprinkler heads leak a bit I could care less more water for the lawn....where I’m at it’s all reclaimed water anyways

Jaime Perez Both Hunter and Rain Bird have these options. Other manufacturers may as well.

Since it's the head that has the check valve, this will prevent low-head drainage regardless of the nozzle used. Thanks for the question!
