My thinking is if Cole was at his post, most likely guarding the Queen as Otto instructed, he probably could've taken them. Instead he abandoned his post to get his noodle wet. Thus leaving the Queen unguarded. Cole is the worst and most dishonorable Kingsguard I've ever seen/read about. I hope it's brought up.

Jay, as a father of two grown sons, I understand. My oldest son was in the hospital under “Suicide Watch” a few years ago, for about a week. I was there every day as long as they would let me stay. I drove him home when they finally released him. He is in a much better place mentally now. But, I was shocked at the time to realize that my love wasn't enough to keep him here. This is to say, there may be no greater love than mothers but there is no greater fear than fathers. Love you, brother VIVAT!

Apparently in the books this scene is so much more psychologically damaging. You know it’s bad when even HBO is toning down the violence.

That ending was just so horrifying to witness. I can only imagine how hard that hit Jay. Sending virtual hugs and love to all.

2 mother and son 'interactions' made me especially happy this episode (beside a lot of other things). When Jacaerys came back to report to his Queen and lost it, he reached out to hug his mother as soon as she was close enough. It's such a lovely and realistic detail. Children do that all the time when they're stressed, frighten or just need some sort of support. It was also a beautiful detail in The Last of Us when Sam fell into Henry's arms and later Ellie into Joels. It's that need of a safe place. It's heartbreaking. Not nearly as heartbreaking is the fact that both, Alicent and Aemond, described each other with only one word, "angry". I have no idea what that means and if it has a deeper meaning but I noticed it and since it's HotD I don't think it's a coincidence.

I have skipped the scene and not been able to watch it yet in any reaction. I get too affected by this stuff and I too have a very little boy. So I feel you Jay. I hope you don't fixate on it too much ♥ try looking up interviews with the cast, it helps me to get in the "it's ok, it's just a show, it's not real" mindset

Love Jay’s heart. My friend and I have an agreement. She tells me about eye violence in movies and I tell her not to watch things that have bad things happen to children. Luckily, her husband was able to warn her while they were watching (as a book reader) and she walked out. I hope Jay never changes. I love this channel’s vulnerability, emotions and friendship.

Yeah once I went down the list of youtubers whoes reactions I follow, I knew that Jay was going to have a strong reaction to that ending. And I think we should be very glad that HBO toned Blood & Cheese down. By. A. Lot. Had HBO down it beat for beat (like many people apperently wanted) Jay would have walked and maybe not returned.

Emma D'Arcy had just ONE line the entire episode. All the rest of their story was told through their face and the help of the costuming, makeup, and hair depts.

Blood & Cheese was a lot more darker in the book then what they showed, but the tension leading up to that moment was still great. Also we got a name drop in the epsiode for Dalton Greyjoy aka the Red Kraken😈, but they'll probably save his appearance for season 3. I'm just hoping we see the lads & bloody ben this season along with my girl Black Aly !! 💯🙏 #TeamBlack !!!!!!!

This episode broke me despite knowing exactly what would happen, I could never be prepared no matter how hard I tried I genuinely almost threw up after due to how Upset i got He was just a baby and I want Daemon to suffer

After watching this episode I thought of Jay cause I remembered how much Aemma's death in season 1 affected him knowing that he was gonna be a dad soon. It took me over a week to even watch it their reaction cause I know how heartbreaking it'd be for him, but I wanna still support the channel. We love you Jay! Lots of hugs

My wife had the same reaction. She said she refused to watch the rest of the season for fear of more. She eventually read what happened in the books to ensure she could watch the rest. Spoiled everything (if they stay true) but she kept it to herself and said she could watch the rest.

This scene is intense of course, but is more "light" if you compare it with the book...

This takes me back to Jay’s comments part way through season one where he asked how watching this makes anyone’s day better….they just beheaded a small child.

Alicent lighting that candle made me hate her that much more. Ever since Luke was born, she was trying to prove him as a bastard, essentially putting his life in danger. She made their life at Kings Landing so difficult that they fled to Dragonstone. She demanded his eye to be taken out even though it was her vicious son who a) hit the girls b) almost killed Jace with the rock. She then had the audacity to defend Luke's murder in front of her dad. And then she goes and does this. Lol. She's trying to ease her guilt, nothing more. Hypocrite asf

As the father of a son, 14, and two daughters, 12 and 8, I can empathize with you Jay. The worry ebbs and flows as they grow, but it never runs dry and some things, like this episode, will make you think thoughts that you wish you could just permanently delete out of your mind the moment they happen. But even with all that, they are an absolute joy and totally worth it (to me at least)

I have a big imagination, as a mother of a child of a similar age, it hit me very hard...

I am ten thousand times more sensitive since I became a Dad. I used to think that child peril was exploitive and lazy storytelling but now I just get immediately teary as soon as it's even hinted at. This was a tough watch. We love you Jay. We're here, we understand, and (checks notes) oh crap the war hasn't even started yet.

God, this kind of reminds me of when (I think it was when I was watching Season 2) I was still more or less post partum (and having a lot of problems with invasive anxiety/thoughts about terrible scenarios/violent harm coming to my children) and there was that scene where they kill all the baby bastards by drowning, stabbing, etc. I had to nope out a bit.

I can see this episode would be hard on parents. Personally I am cold and jaded and a book reader so I knew this was coming. I was however very upset that the dog was kicked.

As horrible and heartbreaking Blood and Cheese is, it happened AFTER the war had already begun. Luke's cold blooded murder set everything in motion. I despise Daemon for targeting that little boy but I also understand. Luke was not only Rhaenyra's baby boy, he was also the heir to Driftmark. A son for a son, an heir for an heir. I completely understand why he took that step, as much as I hate him for it. Helaena and her kids did not deserve this. Neither did Luke. But unfortunately, it's the innocents that get hurt the most in wars. I'm now and always Team Black as Rhaenyra deserved that throne. She will always be the rightful queen to me. Having a tragedy happen to him does not suddenly make Aegon worthy of the Iron throne. I do not understand people who switch teams over this. The question was never of morality, but of rights. Viserys declared his daughter as his heir. Period. Usurpers took her right away and shall pay the price, however gruesome it will be.
