Jay, " I'm not worried about them " talking about the Lizard League. Adam " oh I'm not worried she's got duplicates ". Adam & Jay forgetting for a moment they're watching Invincible. The show reminding them that this is Invincible. And anyone can die at any time. And it will be gruesome!!!

That fight with the B team and the Lizard League actually played out very similarly to the comics. I like when they change stuff, but sometimes I like when they just give us the comic beats too

Shrinking Rae was even more brutal too, wasn’t played for a joke/disappointing death like in the comic. That’s even better when they keep the same beats but enhance it (subway scene as well)

A lot of what happened here is beat for beat like the comics. Them being overrun by the sequids, Atom Eve trying to shield them, that ending on a cliffhanger and also Thaddeus ripping off his beard.

The bad guy who kills Shrinking Rae is named Komodo dragon. The reason he is able to squish her is because he is super strong and tough. Shrinking Rae isn't super strong. Her shrink inside and then expand trick only worked on the other guy (salamander) cause he wasn't as strong as Komodo dragon.

I knew her death was coming, but in the extended version in the show I was like "don't go full size! Just expand enough to block his throat!" Not like it matters in the end.

I didn’t realize the League were actually human/lizard hybrids, so seeing him break himself down and crush her within 😅 ain’t never seen that before

It also failed because with Salamander she went through the eye socket and grew inside his squishy gray matter brain. Komodo ate her, Chewed her which probably left her with broken bones and/or missing limbs, thus less structurally sturdy And inside of his stomach which is far more able to resist the internal pressure than a brain is. Add the super strength/toughness and Rae really didnt stand a chance once she got swallowed.

Rae's death was a lot more drawn out here. And disturbing. In the comic's, it was just chew and swallow. Not vored and crushed internally like that.

I just love superhero fights like these so so so much. The one from the Atom Eve special and the ending with Rex in this one are two favorites, in terms of how the fights are paced out and how real they feel. Our heroes get the living shit beaten out of them, and people die. I especially love how once both of his teammates are taken out, he begins panicking but the fight doesn't stop. He has to continue dodging attacks and for him to have any hope of surviving he knows he also has to go on the offensive. His heart is probably pounding all the way up in his throat but he forced himself to continue fighting and he beats them. Fucking awesome.

I gasped at Rae and Kate, i was like "but but but the comics!" Then remembered that Kirkman works on the show, so he likely changed it to his vision. Its just an amazing story, perfect adaptation, awesome writer.

As a comic reader, when Kate died my reaction was "oh shit they're doing the Kate thing". That quickly turned to "oh shit they're doing the Ray" thing. Then I thought they were going to do the Thanos Ant-Man Butthole Thing™ with her growing... then yet another twist got slapped on there. Very faithful to the comics with a slight curveball for comic readers and genre-savvy people!

superman was once impregnated with one of ridley scott's alien embryos. when it attempted to birth itself, supes did the same thing komodo dragon did to shrinking ray -- he simply refused to let it out. he later vomited up the remains.

18:20 is what would've happened with the 'Thanus' theory. You think someone strong enough to fling full-power Ironman, Thor, and Hulk around like ragdolls can't squish Antman with his internals? Way too dense for Antman to do anything. Thanos would become momentarily uncomfortable and maybe shit weird for a day or two, but Scott would be a protein shake. And Thanos is dozens of times stronger than this guy was, at minimum.

I mean the thing is Rae could only go between her own size and small. But AntMan could grow giant, so if AntMan took him by surprise I believe it would have worked but it would have killed him in the process

for me the most interesting part is how they changed shapesmith's origin and his reason for coming to earth from the comic. in the comic, he was actually part of a sequid liberation movement, that believed the "the sequids are all evil and need to be kept at bay" narrative was just a convenient excuse the government made up to justify enslaving a sentient race. so, his group intentionally fed the astronaut to the sequids in order to free them, and he was sent to earth to take the missing astronaut's place, so that no one would come looking for him. turns out they should have listened and that the sequids actually were evil, but, by the time the realized their mistake, it was already too late. changes shapesmith from a well meaning but rather naive good guy to just a complete idiot.

The show canon states from dr bradyworth in the atom eve special that she has a block only for people and animals. Plant life is not inculded. This is different than comics

I played that years ago, it was better than DC Online where once you get to Level 20 it's nearly impossible to advance without spending money, each level costs more and it's so repetitive, the cutscenes are better than playing the missions.

The comics backstory for the shapesmith is actually pretty different. In the comics, he was part of a rebel group that believed the story of how the sequids became the servants and their hivemind mind control was a lie told to justify the enslavement of the sequids and they purposely used Russ as a host to free them. When it went bad is when he left Mars with the earth astronauts i believe. I'm going off memory here, so i might have gotten some details/timeline stuff wrong. But he may be lying about his backstory here. I don't understand Amanda/Monster Girl's reaction to robot this episode. She's the one who told him about how her curse works and how the training can't be too frequent in season 1, and he altered the training to accommodate. He's just trying to do the same here. Is it simply because they went on the date that she's looking at it differently than when he was in charge? The way I see it, he's just doing what she asked before In the comics Donald always knew he was a cyborg In the comics, Amber told people that Mark's grandpa had died and he was out dealing with everything.

I haven't read the comics but I can think of how to save the Earth Guardians. Rae, unable to explode out of the Dragon dude, opts to shrink back down and take the long way out of his digestive tract. YUCK! Rae does so just in time to distract King Lizard and for Rex to explode his gun and knock him unconscious. Then, they go back and Rae shrinks down to restart Kate 1's heart, long enough for her to make a whole uninjured body for herself. Meanwhile, the space Guardians are saved when Eve phases them through the floor like she did the hull.

One major reason why I think Lizard League was able to destroy the guardians, apart from the lesser no. of guardians obviously, is the fact that they lacked muscle power. In the atom eve episode, War Woman and the Immortal were beating the shit out of the guy who killed Kate and Shrinking Ray. None were present here. If just two of them were here instead of the three (Rex, Kate and Ray) things would have been completely different.

Perhaps line-of-sight is required, otherwise it would be too overpowered. I suspect it would be like if Nightcrawler was able to teleport completely blind (or the opposite, which is the norm).

I think you will find the events of this episode are actually quite faithful (specifically Issue #40). For you see, like many before you, you have fallen victim to having too MUCH knowledge of the whole tale! You have allowed your memory to fail you! Like many reactors before you, you have forgetten about the carnage of this battle because of certain status quo changes even farther ahead (Issue #46 dear readers!). You think the show has majorly changed events in this episode when in fact, they have not! There are twists within twists! Bask in the glory of my "Um, Actually..." Powers!!! Mwhahahaha!

I don’t get Mark’s motivations… he knows he has a limited timeline to warn/prep/subjugate Earth, but he insists multiple times he wants to stay and help the perfectly safe bug people rebuild their city. That makes zero sense from his characters perspective.
