Sorry, I'm just not convinced this is the best step forward. I think this benefits everyone in the company EXCEPT the driver. You even spent half the video explaining how it's going to save Prime money. Oh sure, savings will be passed down to us drivers...sure they will. I've been a driver here for almost 9 years and about the only consistent thing about this company is that the promises are becoming more and more empty each and every year. So, this is fantastic... Now I have to add one more thing to my list of things to worry about while I'm on the road for 2 months at a time because freight is at its lowest point in years. All because the actual professional drivers out here are being punished because the lazy flip flop and PJ wearing drivers can't get off their phones. Thanks, but no thanks. If I apply for another company eventually am I going to get denied for being an “unsafe driver” because my “grade” at Prime is poor because I hit my vape or scratched my head too many times? I don’t see any good coming from this. I have pretty bad social anxiety, the last thing I want is to be able to be viewed at any point while working, that is way too much. The whole reason I love driving is because it’s private. Just me and my truck. No people, no needing to dress up to go to work if I’m just going to be driving all day, no interactions etc. if I wanted to be micromanaged and recorded all day I would have an office job. So please explain how this worry will make me a better driver??? Would it make sense to add cameras that actually protect the drivers and the company, like on the mirrors. Do you know how many times we are cut off because of the low speeds we have to go???? Is this system 100% unhackable??? I can't believe that someone can't hack the cameras. This is not just a job, it's my home. And another worry. Last thing, why don't you evacuate the hiring practices/training program. From my experience over the last 38 yrs these camera systems does nothing for the company as far as lowering accidents. I've work with company who tried these systems and at the end of the day it only cost them more money. Being a driver out here on these highways everyday is very unpredictable driving amongst other Driver, pretty much what I am trying to say is that the camera is not going to stop any events or bad situations on the roads and every professional driver knows this quite well. Believe it or not, subconsciously the driver will always believe that the camera is watching him or her and that in itself is a VERY BIG DISTRACTION IN ITSELF, and studies has proven this a fact.. External viewing is fine because it protects the drivers and companies in any situations while driving.
@danielholloway70752 ай бұрын
Here's my question, the news feed in the app says "The camera uses AI technology and looks for various behaviors like handheld phone usage, drowsy driving (yawns, blinking, head movement face touching), distracted driving (looking away from the road for more than 4 seconds) and seat belt usage to name a few and provides audible warnings and time to correct before any video is recorded", but then later on says "If an incident happens that is not captured in an event with the ignition key ON (witness accident, minor bump/minimal G-Force, etc.) we can go back and retrieve video for approximately four days, After the four days - video is over-written, Both internal and external video are not able to be retrieved after four days"? Please explain, cause it sounds to me like it is recording for 4 days straight no matter what. My other question is about audio. Does it record audio? I LOVE Prime, but I do not believe this is the answer. Put it the trucks who violate, not all. Further more DRIVERS NEES TO GROW UP AND STOP ACTING CHILDREN ON THE ROAD. How can yall be so distracted with a phone, with SOOOOO much happening around you all day/night long. I am upset about this, because OTHERS DISRESPECT & IMMATURITY IS AFFECTING ALL OF US. My trk # is 264161, I would love to have a real conversation about this to help me understand it, cause i believe people should be held accountable for their actions, not everyone else. Thnx

I see lots of negative comments. Prime is entering a new era, an era of change. Note that Prime is not the only company bringing more technology inside the truck, Prime waited too long to install the aforementioned technology. I believe that the owner struggled with the decision to install the technology and I also believe that he cared about drivers privacy. But all good things come to an end and think that he had no other option than to have the new technology installed in his trucks. Driving for Prime is going to change. It is going to be a different driving things that you used to do like not making a complete stop at the stop sign is a violation, driving too close to a vehicle in front of you that is a violation and more - all in all it is going to make you a better driver. You wanted to be a driver is that correct so drive and do it safely. Understand that Prime is new with this technology, other companies have been using this tech for years. Expect at the beginning that FM and Dispatchers will be calling you and treat you like a child. As the technology is getting old in Prime you will get less and less phone calls and workers will know what is worth a call or not. Nobody cares what you do in the sleeping berth. All they care is what you do during your time in the driver’s seat. Good luck to all of you - I think it will take some time to get used to but in the end it will all be good.
