Absolutely Old Codger blends are worth getting. For some reason they pair excellent with coffee unlike many boutique blends. Mind you these were the baccy our Dads, Grandparents, Uncles smoked. These are American Icons like apple pie, Chevy work trucks and Buck Knives! Every new pipe smoker needs to try each at least once!

I dont smoke but now im in my late 30s and been craving prince albert or the smell of pipe tobacco my grandfather smoked it when i was very young amd the neighbor behind us owned a tabacco store and made pipes in his garage.

PA and CH are the tops as far as I'm concerned. Funny but I never got licorice from PA and been smoking it for 20 years. I found that if you keep smoking them, eventually you ditch the fancy boutique blends and before you know it, you are a codger! Never thought it would happen to me but it did 🤣🤣 Prince Andrew and Chatham Manor are good match blends too. 😎👊👍

I’ve been smoking PA for years. Love it and Carter Hall. Like you though I don’t care how slow I smoke Velvet it burns my mouth up!!!

It’s very decent blend, though the pouches were different and I mean BETTER different - sweeter and nuttier. If you find an old pouch give it a try and you’ll see for yourself!

Great blend. Definitely an all day smoke. Unfortunately CH and PA only do the tubs now which is a shame. I always pick up the liquor topping in CH and I get a nutty syrupy taste with PA. Thanks for sharing JC. Happy smokes

So I have not had PA since the production has moved to the DR. I think I have a tub from the DR in the cellar somewhere. Those tubs seal really well without the need to jar em. PA was an evolution for me. Hated it in the beginning then later fell absolutely in love! Cant wait to see whatcha think of Half and Half! Plus I will tell you a licorice hack for Velvet and H/H. ;)

You know it's amazing the difference in people's noses and palates.. There is a sweetness to Prince Albert and it's an amazingly good smoke but I don't get a hint of liquorice .. I can smell liquorice a mile away but not a hint of it in Prince Albert for me.. lol And if you're one who likes to roll up a cigarette every now and then it's very good for that surprisingly..

My favourite tobacco is a good Va/Per. Specifically Elizaebthan Mixture or McClelland no. 2015 (got a pound left that I’m hoarding) But damn I love me some PA or Carter Hall. They’re my everyday smokes. No effort and consistent as hell!

Many of these old blends are quite good all day smokes. PA fits that bill.

Definitely had PA many times, I keep a tub of at it around. Each time I smell the tub I get hit with Hershey's Cocoa Powder. Not sure if this is on your list, but Mixture 79 is an old blend with a very different flavor.

I have a tub of PA and I do crave it once in awhile. There really is no substitute for a codger blend so I have to have it on hand at all times. I never had Carter Hall and I’m definitely curious. How much different is it than PA? Would love feedback from anyone who reads this!

John Middleton Co. stopped making the 1.5 oz pouches for Carter Hall and Prince Albert so unless somebody gives you one, you won't be able to find them. STG still makes the 1.5 oz pouches for the other Codger blends. Anyway like I said before, I've smoked tons of Velvet and Half & Half, both enjoyable but the last H&H i got was bland. All the good flavors were gone and I got so disappointed, smoked a 14 oz tub when they were still made by Lane in Tucker Ga looking for the good flavors and never got them. Now I'm a Carter Hall guy first thing every morning and Rattrsys or Macbaren every evening. Enjoy those blends cause I sure do

Been about 6 years or so since I've had that blend. I remember it being pretty mild and easy to smoke

My go to conger blend when I want something sweeter than Haunted Bookshop or Old Joe Krantz.

Prince Albert is the only blend I smoke on a regular basis. If I may make a suggestion. Try using the breathe method with less puffing. More taste not so much heat. Ditch that C store Bic and buy yourself a Zippo !

I love PA. It’s a family tradition. A flavorful all day smoke.
