This is one of my favorite Prince songs. As a kid I knew all the words. “Pop Life” is an underrated classic from Prince that no one seems to react to. You should give it a listen.

Prince was an artist - not just a musician. His ability to "change" his voice and tone and style was attributed to him using his voice as just another instrument ... There is no comparison between Michael Jackson and Prince. 2 superstars, in their own right. But 2 separate levels of talent.

Yo, When you said kinda like Thriller, Prince rolled over in his grave. Being compared to one another didn’t sit well with Prince… he was supposed to do the song Bad as a duet with MJ & was told he’d sing the first line, which is “Ur butt is mine…” & he was like NO. 🤣🤣🤣. I met Prince, & he was truly weird & funny & wicked humour. Loved him even more! 💜💜💜💜💜

If you dig Prince, check out his early stuff... & include the whole Purple Rain album. A lot of his stuff was considered controversial, but maybe the world just wasn't ready for him.

Prince was a tremendous talent. Probably just scratched the surface. He had a hard life. He was not tall in stature so he wore shoes with heels to make him a bit taller. With his jumping around on stage in those heels, it actually hurt his back and he was in a lot of pain. ☮️

When Around the World in a Day was released I was preparing to leave for a school trip to DC. I took my Walkman and the still sealed tape with me. I didn't think I would need another album because, duh, it was Prince. Over the course of that weekend I must have listened to that whole album 10-15 times and it never got old. On the bus ride there I just listened to it over and over. Mind you I almost had a heart attack the first time I played side two. It starts with "America" and if any of you are familiar with how that song starts you can understand how I thought my tape player was eating my brand new tape the first time I played it. Good times.
