Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom (Beatrice Mary Victoria Feodore; 14 April 1857 - 26 October 1944), later Princess Henry of Battenberg, was the fifth daughter and youngest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Beatrice was also the last of Queen Victoria's children to die, 66 years after the first, her elder sister Alice.
Beatrice's childhood coincided with Queen Victoria's grief following the death of her husband on 14 December 1861. As her elder sisters married and left their mother, the Queen came to rely on the company of her youngest daughter, whom she called "Baby" for most of her childhood.

Beatrice didn’t pass until 1944, and I found it really interesting how the current Queen may have knew her. Knowing someone who knew both Queen Victoria and Prince Albert!

I believe Beatrice and Louise lived in Kensington Palace and were visited by our late Queen when she was a child. Amazing links to the past

@@leemorrison7113 the now late queen, when she was a child, referred to Kensington as ‘the auntie palace’ because Great, great Aunt Louise lived there until 1939 and Beatrice until 1944 (Elizabeth was respectively 13 and 18 when they died so she had very clear memories of Victoria’s two youngest daughters, as well as her oldest surviving son, Arthur, who lived until 1942)

@@leemorrison7113 for sure! She had a ringside seat on such a turbulent century of change and met countless thousands of the most famous (and sometimes infamous) people of our times. Considering she was, by nature, a shy person who was really more comfortable with her dogs and horses than VIP dignitaries, she did an absolutely incredible job for the UK over the decades

Queen Elizabeth found out as a young child she would be queen. In Kensington she ran to auntie Beatrice to share with her this overwhelming news. For both a day to remember. Beatrice told Elizabeth that her grandfather king George and she once had a conversation about Elizabeth; they both agreed Elizabeth would make a fine queen. 😊😊

Can imagine she kept in contact with her siblings, and May of course, to discuss parts of Victoria's diaries. O bloody hell, sort it out, or please keep this or that out. Boring family argues, for instance, Victoria wrote about. And by the way, it was a gift to the public, not a must because of (still) demanding readers!!!
