For those who does not know- wearing red in memorials/ burials/ offerings to gods/ deceased- was consodered as a very disrespectful act as frugality amd colour white was reserved for such an occassions. Wearing read and accessories in those times was considered as flashy or showing off the status/ wealth. Look at the way empress and concubine are being dressed. Very few accessories and plain robe to show respect. That was another offense princess has made as noone should have outflash the hosts of the ceremony.

another favorite scene. Concubine Yue checking her senseless dim-witted greedy daughter. I love the way she checks everybody! One look says mind your own business.

Concubine Yue is such an intelligent woman and always well informed but she wasn’t able to educate her daughter properly! Strange! She was supervising her education for sure.

Also does have her uncles influence. He seems to be playing the parts of whispering and everybody's ear so he can gain glory. Like the mom said her daughter's not smart enough to come up with this plan. Her brother is. I feel like she's let him get away with things because he is family he's her brother but it's done damage to her daughter

It really is cause you can tell that the Empress and Consort Yue love their daughters. When rewatching the drama I try to image what the Fifth Princess, if she didn’t have her “aides” whispering in her ears, and the Third Princess, if she wasn’t spoiled and influenced by her Uncle, would be like and I still see them having a huge ego but being more tolerable. That everything they did in the series to NiaoNiao wouldn’t happen cause I see them doing the typical trope calling her out publicly to embarrass in front of others and Ling Buyi.
