Wanted to make a quick video on the aluminum Y Roller Plate. These are usually the first thing PrintNC owners will cut out of aluminum, as it is an upgrade over the printed parts that move the axis.

@@ProjectsbyBrian It’s a pity the sound of the the spindle always drown the sound of the stepper motors. Beautiful lead parts there 🤩🎶 (and thx for posting - seriously considering a pcnc build now)

Nice video . Could please when ever u can , make video in fusion for the toolpath and how u used the adaptive option . Thank u sir

so as far as your CAM what you do is measure your stock then set up a "fixed size" box to your exact dimensions in your setup then place your model offset to the bottom of your stock then run your facing operation down to the top of your part then from there run the rest of your operations using rest machining.

Nice! As far as z offset you can always set z top for facing and the z bottom for the rest.

@@ProjectsbyBrian as a newby I still export one g-code/operation at the time, so changing the XYZ reference is not an problem (when I remember to do it ;-) That being said, as you probably know, you can set multiple "setups" in Fusion 360 and should be able to export the entire process as a single g-code with multiple offsets.

are these parts to replace the pla or petg parts so its stronger and less flexi able?

Mhh... Yeaa... Should I ever consider upgrading to this machine I'd most definitely do those originally 3D printed parts in Delrin... 😐

You should get a mister . That adaptive tool path seems very slow and inefficient compared to regular pocketing tool paths . Is that running Grbl ?
@green323turbo
@green323turbo 3 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectsbyBrian , A mister only uses about a cup an hour and your cutter will last much longer and blows the cups away from the cutter. If you leave chips in the grove, they get reguritated and deflect the cutter nicking the finish.

@@ProjectsbyBrian Chip evacuation is absolutely critical for milling aluminum. You really should invest at least in one of the misters and only hook it up to compressed air if you really don't want coolant all over the place. That constant chip evacuation from compressed air going through the whole operation is going increase your chances of success and lower the chances of destroying your endmills by preventing chip recutting and chip welding (which is really common with aluminum since it will weld/stick onto your endmill if it gets too hot and the chips aren't evacuated fast enough). Also, it will mean that you don't need to baby-sit the router with your compressed air gun nearly as much.

forget 1 flute mill, they are weak and rips more than cut, use 2 or 3 flutes they are more robust as the core is larger. and your overlap at least for your facing is way too much you got what 80% of the mill diameter ??, i'm quite conservative with 30-40% maximum to avoid leaving the center of the current pass not surfaced again on the next pass. Also i think your 2D adaptive was overkill as i would done like it: 1 drill, 2 facing, 3 contour of the inner part until the pocket height, 4 pocket the exterior pocket and finally contour to the end, and you end up removing less material so faster machining.

With that single flute cutter, I think you are going too fast in your spindle RPMs are way too high. You probably should lower the RPMs by a few thousand.
