After recovering from a large renovation on our house, we were able to finally install these beams. Like all remodel/renovation jobs…i wish we had done these earlier. It is hard to make a bigger impact in a home than adding beams. This is definitely a highlight of our project and money well spent. RIDGE BEAMS were all 7”x8”x7”
RAFTER BEAMS (aka Fingers) were all 6”x7”x6”
Lengths:
Kitchen Beam: 24 Feet
Master Beam: 21 Feet 6 inches
Family room Ridge Beam: 20 Feet 1 Inch
Family room rafter beams (or finger beams): 12 Feet 5 inches
Ceiling Peak in Living Room & Bedroom: 12 Feet high
Ceiling Peak in Kitchen area: 10 Feet 6 inches
Box Beams were made of 3/4” Alder Wood.
Finish: Simply White stain followed by Java Glaze then wire brushed. Any questions on construction, cost, stain finish please reach out to The Barn Door Store.

Whats the 3 (3 lines)measurements on the first beam i have vaulted ceiling and going to do it my self. Would you share

I believe they mark center and then left and right inner dimensions of the beam. I’m assuming they want to make sure beam is equidistant on either side of center. Sorry for delay in response!

Did they fill the insane amount of brad nail holes

They used 18 gauge brad nails....believe it or not you cannot see them from ground. I was surprised we couldnt see them

I'm not impressed with the fitting of these beams. Caulking the edges? That's a no no in the world of finish carpentry that suggests they rushed to get this job done. Had they taken more time, they would have had better fits.
