I was a secondary school teacher for many years and discipline was the key to my success in teaching children. The key advice I received at university was cone down hard to start and then you have the ability to rein in when you can. Take a light touch to start and the children will walk so, over you and your lessons will suffer and the children will not (ever) respect you. It was the best piece of advice I ever had and my goodness it was hell at times in the classroom a battle royal. I see the police taking a light touch, a carefree attitude and allowing these thugs to wander the streets every day terrorising normal Londoners and visitors alike. I can’t visit London myself any more due to fear of the violence and crime. But the police have made a serious error of judgement allowing these people to gain confidence and believe there are no consequences to their awful criminal behaviour, so why should they not feed off this and gain in strength and intensity. The streets have been lost to the thugs and the people are the losers. It’s so sad to see our police force become the laughing stock of the thugs, terrorists and criminals. How times change in one lifetime.

The courts have today outlawed government guidance on protests. So it requires primary legislation not a statutory instrument. Government is to appeal. So if it appeals the case would be after the GE no doubt. And primary legislation even if started now would take a year, allowing for house of lords obfuscation. Basically there is an establishment fifth column at work, abetted by the civil service, blocking any attempt to pull our country back from its current trajectory.
