This was a very bold dog fox that had been causing a few issues around the farm. It was a safe and very clean kill.

Pop up hides are a great thing, I’ve got the same one you should in the video and there fantastic for shooting rabbits and sometimes can even work for Deer

Nice video Well done Vermin control in order. I learned a lesson the hard way 5 yrs ago ! I and my son left two hides on the land we have permission to Control the vermin ! Yes both were stolen, thanks for sharing 👍👌🇬🇧

Yeah I can see that could be a problem. That said there are no footpaths in the area I had in mind. So for 40 quid it might be worth the risk.

Very decent fair rifle shot that good clean kill. People have no idea of the problems Foxes can cause especially when emboldened. Good video as usual Sam all the best. Tony

I’ve got the same pop up hide also , there absolutely brilliant , aswell as keeping you well concealed they provide shelter from the wind and ran .

Hi Sam, I tend to move around using sticks when rabbiting, if you sit in one place they will just go to other end of field once you've fired at a couple, good freehand shot though...

I own one of those hides. Don't buy a cheap one though. Most of them are not waterproof and you can find yourself sitting with rain water dripping down your neck. : -)

What ammunition did you use on the fox??

100 grains of SAKO softpoint.

@@srspower that's why the fox ran. That ammo is a deer round. Designed to expand as it passes through the width of a deer. Foxes being smaller and lighter framed, the bullet didn't have enough time within the fox to expand sufficiently and transfer its energy.... Rapid expanding varmint ammo is better suited for foxes.

Teal69 yeah but that will change the zero. It doesn’t normally happen a fox I shot a couple of weeks ago had a huge exit wound with 100 grain softpoint. I guess it hit more bone.

Wouldn’t use spring power airguns for rabbits, at least use a fac airgun as it’s more likely to kill and so more humane.

I can highly recommend weihrauch springers, i used an hw97kt for several years with no issues. They're superb workhorses

On the topic of the fox running on maybe you shot it in the bottom of the heart and so it ran because of a surge of blood going to the brain before bleeding out it’s something that is theorized with deer when you heart shoot them.

you shoot one 3 turn up for the funeral try and set up a bait station for foxes if your hunting the same ground, great shooting off hand.

Probably as bait for Foxes and other vermin ?, its on its way out like mentioned, so the farmer probably just left it knowing his area with vermin

@@Mr_Makina Bad Farming Practice we shift any dead or dieing stock without delay,the health and well being of yours and your neighbours stock takes presidency over a bit of shooting sport Im afraid

@@woodsman2433 aw don't get me wrong I'm not debating that fact at all, I just thought I'd weight in on a reasonable thought on why the possibly did so. I would only imagine the bacteria and fungi building on that thing, no to mention bacteria left by fly's, mildew etc
