▷ About Paul:
Paul Rodriguez, also known as “P-Rod” was recognized as a prodigy at the young age of 14, only two years after he started skating. His consistency, effortless style and persistence on his board led Paul to travel far from his home town of Northridge, CA to the City Streets around the world as a part of the legendary City Stars team. His passion for skating and filming with his friends led to his breakout part in Logic 6 in 2000, Street Cinema in 2001 and landed him Rookie of the Year in 2002 for his part in Tranworld’s video production “In Bloom.” He turned pro later that year.
Paul bought his first skateboard at the age of 12. When he’s not skateboarding, Paul enjoys studying the lives of influential individuals, including his favorites such as Alexander the Great and Bruce Lee.
Paul currently lives in Los Angeles.

I feel you I will continue to ride and do what I can. I’m just bummed cuz I have a herniated C5 that I battled 10yrs. I’m looking into surgery. It’s no fun having chronic neck and arm pain every day. Hope I can solve it. It stops me from jumping or enjoying life. I got it from not doing PT. My knee is messed up but I can wear a brace and it’s not much of an issue. Work around your problems.

These videos make me realize a lot of men in their late 30s struggle with these feelings, but don’t let that doubt dictate, a man can very well be in his prime at these ages if you have the passion and take care of yourself, I just watched DEFINE and P ROD, WADE and countless others on the team prove that’s true. Thanks Paul and Spanish

Even the GOAT struggles with stuff like this… thanks for sharing this part of your journey man. As someone who is currently on a very low point, to see someone you looked up to for 15+ years go through this and win every battle feels really inspiring. I don’t think it’s possible for you to grasp the impact you had on the life of so many people around the world. You were my inspiration as a kid, a teen and now as a grown man. Thank you, Keep on pushing till the wheels fall off. GRACIAS HERMANO.

Bro at 21 hearing him say he didn't feel an inspiration to skate scared me to be honest. When Spanish mike said "you were supposed to be my hero" I felt that. But I love seeing the inspiration this transparency is needed more in communities and I love the way you've been able to change the lives of so many with something as simple as making a post like this. Much love Paul wishing you the best and will always be an observer of your work🙏🏾

very relatable, thank you for showing this. Check up on your homies, when they say Im fine they really arent. You have a great friend that cares for you, Im currently been in this mindset of self doubt recently, never have I faced this challenge. Hard to explain but this video kinda came at the right moment. Im trying to navigate and process whats going on but my mind and body feel off, ive always been super happy, give my shirt of my back for anyone. Even writing this is a weird feeling. I help people everyday yet I dont help myself, I never expected others to help back either. Now when I need a friend to reach out the most I feel alone. I think im starting to understand it but its also nice to hear im not the only one. Much love and happy holidays.

Big bro! I’m glad to see this side of you. I skated for 13years straight then all of a sudden I had to grow up get a job. Life gets to you. The grind of life grinds away at the creative side. The enjoyment of skating as a kid is the discovery of all the new possibilities. As we get older we understand the consequences if we fall if we get hurt. The can blow out the flame. I just started playing session and it’s helping me get inspired to get back on my board. You have more to learn more to master. Get to it!

It's fine feeling like this sometimes, I had been skating almost every day or at least 4-5 days a week between the ages of 12 to 29 and it was my only thing in life. Then it suddenly just went away, passion gone. I couldn't understand it and I almost felt guilty over it since I was actually good at it and people were telling me that I had wasted potential and so on, but I just didn't feel like doing it anymore. I had to take some time off to just get my head straight and mind in order and I'm finally starting to get excited about skating again a couple years off the board doing other things. Of course it's way different when you're at your point in life and your career but still, it's so weird feeling like you have to take a break from something you love so much. I still remember the first skate video I ever saw, 16 Below and your part in it got me hooked immediately so thank you for that! Still one of my favorite parts to watch. Hyped to see you found the spark again man!

I also feel that discouragement when I go skating most of the time, this stage of adult life where two axes play; Workflow and Quality of life is an issue. The only thing that helps me in this is my vocational profession as a clinical psychologist (which I will practice again until 2025 due to depression). See the paradox or irony of my situation, no one is safe from these psychological difficulties. I consider here that it is a natural part of the development of life in each of us. I hope a speedy recovery for you who read this and that your happiness does not give up! we are going to skate!
