I agree! I think a .25 used correctly and sparingly really can help with product penetration. I have a professional pen for deeper treatments, but I don’t share it because most people won’t do their research and use it correctly. I see so many people using deeper treatments way to often, you are completely destroying your skin when you force it to try and repair deeper damage on a weekly basis when you should wait weeks in between! I think overuse of products in general is the biggest issue I see in any DIY skincare, more is not better. If people want to do their research and take care of themselves I fully support that, we just need to make sure we know what we’re doing before jumping in.

there's one beauty youtuber in general that really irritates me with that. he will constantly say one thing, delete the video, then say the exact opposite in his next video. i've seen him change his advice in really short time periods too (like sometimes just a few days). and whenever i bring this up as a reason why i can't stand him his fans will ask for proof but there's no way for me to prove it since he deletes everything. not gonna mention him by name but he's very well known. he does both skin and makeup advice but he's more known for makeup.

As a redhead with blue eyes I’m very pale. When I was a teenager I wanted a bit of a ‘tan’. So I concocted a tanning solution of 2bottles of iodine and baby oil and slathered it all over. My main problem with lush skincare is there constant use of essential oils in literally everything to the point where some of there products seem outright dangerous for the face. Like near enough all of their cleansers have some form of exfoliating element in them and combined with the essential oils can really damage your skin if it is remotely sensitive. They have scrubs that have Sodium bicarbonate as the first ingredient like why??? Love their body stuff and their perfumes are amazing but i would not touch most of their skincare with a ten foot pole. A couple of their products are alright (mainly their oil cleansers if you do not mind fragrance) but it is not worth it.

Hi James, I'm just hyperfocusing on your comment regarding good skincare that's available for 1 - 2 pounds. I would love if you did a video on these kind of products, as I find it quite frustrating when influencers promote "affordable" products that are under 10 or 20 pounds each - which really adds up. The glitter in Lush products! I got nostalgic and went to see if I still liked the Celestial moisturiser years later. When putting some on the back of my hand in store, I noticed my hand was glittery?! I don't think it was in the moisturiser, but it was definitely floating around in the air 🥴

I know you probably won’t see this James (doubt you check your comments a week later 🤣) but I believe the pandemic had a massive boost to the whole skin care industry! A lot more people started going make up free (why bother right?) and started taking care of their skin a lot more! I know myself is included in that! I had a basic face wash I used daily pre-pandemic but I take a lot better care of my skin post-pandemic. I’ve noticed dramatic changes in my skin (a lot of progression!!!) and now I feel confident enough to go foundation free a lot more! X

I bought all 3 Cosrx products you recommended, the good morning cleaner, aha/bha toner and the snail essence. I've been using those followed by Dr Jart ceramidin moisturizer and my face has never been happier! I would like to find a different moisturizer because what I'm using is pretty expensive but I'm so afraid to change anything because this is the best my skin has ever looked.

I think Lush is really good is a supplement to your normal self-care routine. I love their face and body masks, although its mostly just therapeutic for me. I know they reformulate due to their extensive requirements for suppliers and sometimes they have to change things up to stay within their values. But I dont use their cleansers, toners, or moisturizors

I used to LOVE Lush! I discovered them the day after my wedding at the mall adjoining the Ritz Carlton at Tyson’s Corner, MD. (It has since moved to the Tyson’s Galleria, I think.) My makeup artist though her “vision” was far more important than our previously discussed skin issues re: my face. I wish I knew @James Welsh or had done my own makeup that day, as I had extensive training from Clarins, as I worked as an MUA for them when I was in law school, and for a few years after. Anyway, my face was a blotchy mess, and the concierge sent someone up from Lush with some products as I frantically explained that I was not leaving the room looking like that and that anything I had was just making it burn worse. Whatever the heck they brought up worked and soothed my skin. I used it for 5 more years. I know the moisturizer was as expensive as my Clarins Double Serum was at that time. (I’m USD) The only thing that I remember that they still make is “Angels on Bare Skin.” I have no idea how my skin survived much less thrived. But they were very sweet and brought me up a lovely basket of body products (sans glitter) as a wedding gift.

In Melbourne Australia we have many skincare shops. MECCA cosmetica has been around for about 30 years. K beauty and J beauty shops started to pop up around 20 years ago, and now everywhere. I love it!

I've used that Aloe gel for years not for face, but for HAIR. It makes the best hair gel. I mix it with The Ordinary hair density scalp treatment and put it in my roots and let it air dry. It gives volume, and my hair is super fine. Helped with my hairline

I bought the krave matcha hemp hydrating cleanser off of your recommendation…I’ve repurchased it about…4 times since then. And I still love it, they just reformulated it to not have almond oil in it anymore. I haven’t tried the new version of it but if it’s anything like the old one I’m sure it’ll stay my staple cleanser.

One product I’m so sad that didn’t worked out from your recommendations was the ENS Jin Jung Sung toner. I loved the consistency of it, more viscous than the usual watery toner I’m used to. The ingredients list sounded amazing and didn’t seem like it would break me out. Unfortunately it gave me one of the worst skin reactions I’ve ever had. I’m trying to palm it off to my boyfriend who’s gotten into skin care recently lol. I swear by the Etude House Soon Jung line, my skin drinks that stuff up.

Lush has a garlic mask that’s worked like nothing else on my sensitive skin with a really painful all over breakout.... but it has the NARSTIEST gone-off leftover Italian food that wasn’t even good in the first place kinda smell.... that LASTED for hours at LEAST after washing it off as thoroughly as I could without going into “damaging my skin” territory.... I couldn’t ever use it again 😔🤢

I really like every Boots product I've tried, and BYOMA! I've repurchased the BYOMA face spray, and ive been using the Boots vitamin c and I like it a lot, I've also used up their Collagen serum I also love The Ordinary and Inkey List. The brand that I spend money on is Glow Recipe, and I do also like the Herbivore products I've tried. Glow Recipe is for sure my #1 favorite brand❤️❤️

I haven't tried anything that you've recommended that I've hated. I recently bought the CosRx new retinol serum...holy retinization! I thought I was used to retinol because I'd been using a Papa Recipe retinol serum...nope. My face peeled like I had a sunburn! The only skincare product I've tried and hated was The Ordinary Caffeine under eye serum. It was sticky, it didn't help with my under eye bags and after 2 weeks of off and on use, the skin under my eye was on fire! I think it added some darkness under my eye too.

Falling out of love with Lush was a weird feeling for me. I used to absolutely love their Vanishing Cream moisturiser, and probably still would but I know I can get so much better results with a cheaper product (when I used to use Vanishing Cream it used to be around £11 but now I think it retails for £24 which is fucking ridiculous). I will say the main thing I would recommend Lush for now is the spa. I have only been maybe 3 times but oh my god every single time was worth it.

Not on your recommendation, but when I first tried a skincare routine I had this fancy Elemis set from a spa I visited. And it broke me out SO badly. I don’t know if I am allergic to it, or if it was just wrong. But I decided going back to healthy skin with no routine at all (I always wear suncream though)… then I figured out there were more affordable things that I could use without being itchy and spotty! Now I usually use the inky list (it’s cheap and works well for me!) and sometimes use this gold bond heavy thick moisturiser for when my skin is damaged/dry.

For the aloe gel that specific one, I just it to calm my skin after I do the ordinary chemical peel or after the sun. Then I go in with a hydrating mask.

Your shirt issue is so relatable :D I have the same problem, I hate anything with higher neckline. It starts to bother me so much, I keep touching and pulling at it and then just change the top. I feel like my neck cannot breathe, it gets itchy, fabric annoyingly touches my neck etc. But it is a cute shirt, you should open another button or 2, that would help ;D

Based on these comments, I think you should do another “tiered” video like you and Hyram do for products you love and hate so we can see visually. I love how transparent you are. That’s why I respect you so much, as I myself am an esthetician, I love that people are getting the advice and knowledge!
