One of the first things I was taught when falling trees was never stand directly behind the tree when it starts to fall. Barber chair comes to mind. I thought that that hollow tree was going to pig stick you to the ground. Any day you come home in one piece from the forest is a good day.A hi lead logger told me this. So true

Wish I had some of this guys fluidity, but having worked with saws and machines for about 5 years now don't condone this felling method. There are many ways to redirect a tree without pushing it with another, would have been good for the cameraman to look up and show the canopy to see if there was any reason at all to be doing this. But wedges, felling bars, tree jacks and winches have existed for a long time, it takes less time and expense using them than replacing a person. The fact he remained beside the falling trees, and even returned to make another cut because the second was splitting up the trunk makes me doubt he's ever seen or had an accident. Trees are unpredictable and every one is unique, even if you've felled a thousand trees with no negative result still treat the next with as much respect as you did the first.

Ok look I am a faller with 20+ years experience and while I saw this guy in this video and a few others I have seen him do questionable things, that at some companies would get you your walking papers and other's it would get you an official written reprimand ( in case your killed on the job nobody can come back on the company and file a wrongful death lawsuit or a un safe working condition suit....guys like this is why they do that to cover their rear ends) but this guy has his moments...I think its German or Austrian or someplace in that area. But anyway he makes several choices that to alot of people who do this for a livin were trained to never EVER DO....but on the other hand he always seems to be having fun doing his job and might even work for himself so he can do what he is comfortable with doing...I am not condoning what and how he does things but on the same hand none of us were there either....who knows what the WHOLE situation was....I have seen limb tied trees bigger than those that you couldn't blast apart with dynamite and you had to really work them hard to get them to drop but have also seen some that looked that way that came apart in the slightest of limb movement in the crowns....so guys really in the end its to each his own.....if he is taking chances sooner.....than later the odds of something going bad fast will catch him and if he is lucky and survives it hopefully he learns and starts making the safest choices. My biggest fear is a person like this will get somebody else killed in the process. Any day in the woods is a good day and every day you can do what we do because we love it and go home every night to our familes is a FANTASTIC DAY. R.C. "Charlie" Hill

@@GardenandForest Not a problem. Too many times people judge without knowing the whole story or situation. We all could stand a little more tolerant behaviour sometimes and I dont like seeing people rush to judge. However there are several things I have seen the Faller in most of your videos do that a lot of us in the US and Canada are taught to never do and at a lot of companies if you get seen doing, your looking for a new place to work real quick but to each his own. I enjoy watching fallers that work the Northern part of the world in Europe, Here and Canada alike its cool to see the various methods, tools, tricks, places they work that a average faller like me would otherwise never get to see. Be that as it may.....please try to convince the guy you film to be more safety conscious it may save his or your life if your the one filming.

Just a quick question; why are you felling into your work space? Shouldn't you aim behind the direction you're moving?

I never understand why anyone would cut a tree part of the way down, then just hope it doesnt kill you while u saw on a second... A (professional) wouldn't risk their life to show off, or ruin a butt cut by ripping 3 ft splinters out of the heart

I can out cut this dude he's pretty good but I've dropped 4 trees at once using the domino effect on a steep incline. At least he's running a husqvarna they are a damn good saw. I'd like to get husqvarna to sponsor me I'd like to show them what they're saws are capable of not saying they don't already.
