ProGauntlet Mk1 Review for the SCA

4 жыл бұрынWe had the chance to catch some time with the ProGauntlet Mk1 HEMA gauntlets at the Weird Open HEMA Event in Austin TX. These gauntlets are being distributed in the US by Purpleheart Armory. I'll let the review speak for itself but you may want this pre-order link after watching ;-)

Have you tried sparring gloves infinity gloves? I wonder how they compare seeing as they are half the price.

depends on what you are comparing them too.. good spring steel finger gauntlets can run north of $1100 bucks... But cheap hockey or lacross gloves are under $50.. Just like there are new cars that are under $20k and new cars that are over $450k.. Having handled them, to me, price/performance is worth it..

@@murderdoll9191 play with in what ever budget gets a sword in your hand.. first rule is safe sword play, if that is padded hands from some other sport or less cost, they still get you on the field and that is what is important.

@@HandsonCNC Im new to the SCA and was looking for other options for gauntlets. Im not even sure that these would pass to be honest. They looked interesting tho.

depends on the measuring stick of pricing.. A good set of spring steel finger gauntlets can run you up to $1100 to $1200 so $450 is not too shabby in comparison..

any tests for SCA heavy?

We weren’t at an SCA event when we tested them and the vendor that had them wouldn’t let us test heavier weapons. Once mine come in (around May) I’ll take them out to a local PiP and get them checked out by the Knights Marshal.

We reviewed them for Rapier and C&T. The vendor that had the samples wouldn’t let us hit them with the hickory sticks they had so we borrowed an escrima stick and welled on them with those. Given how they handled the blows I am comfortable with taking a hit from these while handling a glaive or spear.
