Oh damn... from the thumbnail description I thought this was going to end with a demonstration of this strum pattern with all the Ample Sound acoustic guitars so that I could easily compare them pick my own favorite... but alas it was not so. The sound of this one was very realistic once you got through. It sounds better than all the ones I have already, and I have collected a lot of virtual acoustics over the years. I think I should have jumped in on the Ample Sound acoustic(s) years ago for better results.

In ableton live, You should set the ample adsr to 35ms then delay compensation -35ms (in daw). That's the best possible sound you will get. Using 1ms (in ample) and delaying -50ms will not work in ableton live.

Thanks for these simple-to-understand and informative videos! I'm trying to figure out a good workflow for using Ample Guitar for programming rhythm guitar tracks (electric, primarily) for my songs, and have questions about best practices in terms of when to use Riffer, when to use Strummer, and when to just use the underlying MIDI editor in the DAW. Do your paid courses cover this sort of workflow question?

Very inspiring, thanks. These last videos are also “inspiring” me to get your courses on Ample Sound guitars! By the way, what would guide your choice of using the Riffer vs the Strummer to program strumming?
@hifimidi
@hifimidi 2 жыл бұрын
I would use strummer to manually play my strums and get specific chords. I like to record my playing so it can get a more human expression. However, if you want to create licks in combination with strumming, or insert hammer-on notes within a strum, Riffer is your best choice. You can also delete notes in a chord within riffer, whereas in strummer the only way you can change the amount of notes you play in a strum is by velocity, which gives slightly less control.

Your tutorials are always very useful, but I have a question: how can I vary the velocity of a single note of a chord obtained with a strum? I noticed some preset riffs with strum chords composed of notes with different velocities but I couldn't figure out how to do it ...

You'll probably have to export it from the plugin and tweak it inside your DAW, like he did at the end. 9:27

Again Awesome video. I am hoping I can translate this somehow into music labs acoustic guitars. At 7:45 You talk about the Delay compensation in every DAW. Would you possibly know where to find this in Reaper. And lastly do you recommend the acoustic strumming book for practice and learning strumming patterns. Thanks again.

Go to "sends, receives and hardware output options" for the MIDI track in question and set "media playback offset" to whatever your guitar settings require, could be -20 ms or -50 ms for example

Hey! Could you be able to help me modify the delay compensation in Logic Pro X? I cannot find it and cant solve the guitar sounding a little bit off. :( I love your tutorials and your videos are the reason I chose to buy some amplesounds guitars this black friday! Thanks for everything.
@hifimidi
@hifimidi Жыл бұрын
Sure thing. Here is the resource: support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/delay-region-playback-lgcpf7c0b620/mac In the region inspector located in the top left hand corner of the main window, you can select a drop-down menu. Select the delay menu and choose the delay compensation number. I usually like going by milliseconds(ms) instead of ticks. Then choose a negative number (if your Ample Sound sample sounds like it starts late). -30 to -50 is a good range.

Sounds very rigid. I'd guess you can add some imperfections and maybe reduce how many strings you hit on the smaller strokes?

Absolutely. This is a beginner series. It’s going to get more complex as it goes on. I wanted to keep it short, but I should have mentioned that. There are other things I didn’t include, like the fact that when you change chords, there is a slide noise between chords changes as well as dampened notes. But I will include that in the next video. Thanks for your feedback!

Good one. This wasn’t about being easier than the real thing. Real guitarists use this, just like real pianists use virtual pianos. It removed the need for miking, studio space, re-recording, owning expensive gear, and it allows you to change small details without having to start over.

To me it just doesn't sound good enough. Not you're fault, I just don't think the technology is there yet. It's specifically in the transition between upstrum and downstrum it sounds fake. I suspect most people who rave about these guitar VST:s are keyboardists.
