In fallout 1 and 2 this pistol also appears, and in fallout 1 it's unique and is described as a cut down rifle made with love. Undoubtedly a reference to the actual making of the prop.

Although the"PKD" moniker is definitely derived from and in honor of "Philip K. Dick", the gun was never referred to as such till after 1996. This name was purely an invention of the model-maker Rick Ross, who arguably made the most popular BR blaster replica kit at the time. I know because I was there. I was making resin kits too and we shared shop space. He wanted his version of the gun to come from an imaginary manufacturer from that universe. He also wanted the company to be a German/Japanese conglomerate, hence the choice of the names "Phlager" and "Katsumata", but other variations were floated. The name "PKD" is definitely NOT canon, but has appeared to have been accepted by the fanbase over time. I still talk to Rick on a regular basis, and we laugh about how the gun never really had an "official" name before then.

Dream Gun: Aesthetically modeled after this blaster. 3 1/2- inch barrel with half inch recoil compensator. .357 magnum, .38 spcl +P, .38 short low recoil. 8 round cylinder. Double action only. Hammer replaced with a thumb safety. Automatic backstrap grip safety. High profile fiber optic sights. Long length, short height red dot sight. Laser, tactical flashlight. Red dot, laser, and flashlight use one battery which plugs into the bottom of the grip. Transparent grips to see battery is in place.

Great video. The weaver screw would need to be replaced with a slotted screw for yours to be accurate to the blaster as it was used in the filming. The Weaver knob was added later for some reason. While this detail is not a biggie, the auction flyer you show is not the flyer from when the blaster was sold, its actually the flyer featuring my own blaster build done many years back. Looking forward to seeing how you get on.. MARK

Hello Mark, My theory is that the Slotted Screw was replaced with the Weaver Knob after filming wrapped to prevent any live ammo being fired through the prop. We all know that without the Slotted Screw the cylinder cannot be properly secured shut. Just my guess as to why the Weaver Knob came to be. Does this sound like a good possibility to you? Cheers, Damion

Sean I really enjoyed the information in the video! I feel like this channel is going to blow! Reviewing movie guns and props is a great idea💡 especially the iconic ones. Brings super fans. As a viewer the intro before the little part in the beginning where you explained the difference in designs with the b-roll and detail would have been great. I found your channel by a comment. Look forward to the series

Interesting. What is the purpose of the second trigger? It's a redundancy that doesn't seem to make sense.
@SPProps
@SPProps 3 жыл бұрын
On the Steyr, the front trigger is a hair trigger, requiring much less pressure to fire than the rear trigger. On the BR blaster, the double triggers are just for show. In the movie, Ford only ever uses the rear trigger, which is the actual trigger to the Bulldog revolver.

What is the most accurate version of it? Tomenosuke.
@SPProps
@SPProps 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough question. Most of the found parts have been identified, so the majority of the replicas are using dimensions off the found parts. The accuracy really comes down to how the piece is finished. While I think the completed Tomenosuke blasters are nice, I don’t think any of them nailed the finish. That’s why I got a kit a - so I could finish it myself.

I cant help but think when this blaster was conceived it was never ment to be a five shot revolver..The film required muzzle flashes and CGI wasnt that great in 1981.. so the blaster had to fire blanks hense why it had a revolver in side... Every modle builder has latched on to the revolver .. Not all guns in sci fi movies can be explained...
@SPProps
@SPProps 4 ай бұрын
I’d also venture to guess that the revolver was chosen because of how widely available they were at the time. Its simplistic design made it easy to modify, and they were inexpensive given how many were in circulation.
@gmuirhead71

@@SPProps I preferred it when the blaster was a bit of a mystery.. Im sure in the Bladerunner world the second trigger, the lights had a purpose.. speed loading was not easy for this gun.. . there is no scenes of loading or unloading.. dealing with physicaly superior replicants 5 rounds are not enough.. So iv settled on this gun was never a revolver in the movie..
