Amazing machines!! Thank you for loving and saving Classic Benzes! They don’t make them like they used to. If you ever need help or advices, you can contact me or my friend “Pete’s Carport” in Florida. He has his own channel too🙂

Hi, just found your channel and subscribed immediately. Looking forward to watching the rest of the videos in this series. As a fellow owner of a 1996 S500, I can offer one small correction. 1997 wasn't the first year of lock/unlock lights in the door handles, 1996 was the only model year to not have them. For 1996 only, Mercedes moved the lights to the rearview mirror assembly, and the infrared sensor is the black golfball under the rearview mirror. It seems Mercedes decided this wasn't a good idea after all, because they moved the lights back to the door handles for 1997. Another trivia point: in the 1996, the red and green lights in the back of the rearview mirror will flash for around 15 seconds after locking the car when the battery in the infrared remote gets low. Ask me how I know!

Thanks for the comment and so glad you like the channel. I didn’t know about the 1996 only for the door locks. Thanks for sharing. Something I love about the W140 community is how much knowledge is out there. I love my 1996 and can’t wait to start future episodes when I get done with the 1997., and yes, the little red and green lights blink on the rear view mirror on mine as well. Thanks again for watching and sharing about the single year difference.

This is highly interesting. I possess two W140, both sold as 1995 models, both left the factory in 1994 (as confirmed by the VIN number). One has the lock/unlock light in the door handle (S600), the other in the golfball under the rearview mirror (S500). I ignore the reason as of why the variation. One probable explanation could be the rearview mirror electric regulation option (present on the S600, absent on the S500). I am just guessing though. Congraturations to both of you, W140 owners.

I have never seen a more well-known masculine car get the currently popular pronoun "She." Excellent buy, though. I have been daily driving a '99 S320 for over 12 years now, and like you, it came with all of the maintenance records. Unless you are a mechanic or have $10-20K in an Iowna account, that is the way to go on these old beauties. Wait! I just heard Charles Bronson spinning in 'her' grave!

Love the comment. Made me laugh out loud with Charles Bronson statement. There’s a story to the names starting with Betty, my first S500 and my passion for these stunning automobiles. Congrats on the 1999! And cheers to the daily. Hope you enjoy watching project Iona and Project Heidi as well.

@@w140restorations Mister, your car may be gender confused but you are a real man in my book.
