Welcome back to W140 Restorations and Part 5 of Project Iona as we replace the entire fuel assembly under this S500. Watch as the original main fuel hose from the gas tank gets replaced with a new set of crowfeet wrenches and original Mercedes-Benz replacement parts. We trade out an off-brand fuel pump for an OEM replacement one paired with a new Bosch fuel filter and fuel lines. Watch as we test the fuel pressure at the rail and cross our fingers to see if it stays within spec.
Parts used during this video include the following:
Mercedes-Benz Fuel Hose MB 1404700075 from FCPEuro.com
Bosch Fuel Filter (with push on connectors) 0450905275 (F5275)
Pierburg/Bosch OEM Fuel Pump 0986580372 from AutohausAZ.com
ABN Metric Crow Feet Wrench Set from Amazon.com

Thanks Pete! Appreciate the feedback and the comment. There is always something happening with Iona. Hope to bring her to local car shows in the near future, having just missed a golden opportunity to participate last month.

Thanks for the comment! Just took a break from working on headlight switch and xenon bulbs. And yes, she’s got a leaky differential. Added that to the to do list!

Is there a second pump in the engine bay that connects to the fuel regulator near the fender well?

Hey Micheal thanks for watching the channel. Hope you enjoy the content. To the very best of my knowledge there is not a secondary pump anywhere in line between the fuel filter and the fuel regulator, no. I can speak for 96 and 97 W140 with certainty with a M119 5.0L S500. Perhaps other variants and years. 99% sure for the 94-95 years as well for the 5.0L S500s.
