Project Iona Part 6: 1997 Mercedes S500 Headlight Switch and Interior Cabin Filter Replacement

Welcome back to W140 Restorations and Part 6 of Project Iona as we tackle a faulty headlight switch and aging xenon headlight bulb on this 1997 S500. We learn what NOT to do with the xenon bulb assembly and it just might drive me to drinking a local IPA. Along the way we replace the driver's side door gasket and lower kick panel before installing a new set of F1 mats. In addition to these main repair items we replace the interior cabin filter with a new one and clean up the filter housing assembly.

In addition to keeping one spare ignition coil pack in my car, when I changed my headlight switch I ordered two and keep one tucked away next to my coil pack. My switch broke suddenly and I had NO lights. If you are traveling and your headlight switch breaks you could be left with no lights. Having this little part in your onboard parts bin could save the day (night) & avoid much swearing.

Thanks for watching and good point about being without headlights. The click click noise these usually make turned into crunch crunch and no more headlights for Iona. Had to have a new one. Should probably buy a spare for my other W140.
