Getting out of the dirt, always time consuming. Framing a Big Show! But getting it closed in, doesn't get any better till the certificate of habitation is issued!! Great update Glen, you have every reason to be tired! Your very close, just hang in there! Good post as always!!

@@gstongs Thank you for your condolences and well wishes. The family and I are coping with our loss, as you can imagine. I’m keeping my mind and body busy up at my cabin in the PA mountains in Somerset County. Installing a septic system and doing the clearing of trees by myself. I’m sure feeling my age (mid-60s). Glad to be back. Excited for you that you have a place in the states. Cheers! Whipple

Hi Glen, I’m a licensed GC and I know those roofing nails can be unsightly. To be fair the building codes require nails to have 1/4” penetrating through the deck. You can rest assured they will hold the roof on.

I really appreciate your comment. You're spot on and it made me feel a lot better about the situation. I've since painted over the protruding nails and can barely notice them now. Thanks for sure.

Always interesting to see how houses get built around the world, my grandfathers generation was all carpentry and chunks of tree, which is what he did after WW2. But for a long time now we build houses here with bricks, concrete, tiles on the roof and its all really heavy. Lasts half of forever but its not much fun to work on and enough for me to decide not to do it for a living. You also get cute disney forest animals, only deer we have near me are Red Deer that got introduced and the kangaroos of course which are just 'weird looking deer' for all intents and purposes- they're both huge, will destroy you car and mostly complete arseholes.
