Here I give my opinion on what you should set your gyro update frequency and PID loop frequency to in Betaflight or any other configurator like Cleanflight, Raceflight, or INAV. Your frequencies will depend on many different variables like what flight controller you have, F3 or F4, I2C or SPI, what ESCs you use, and CPU load.

Thanks man, I'm really happy with the content you're making! One question, what can I do when the preview of the quad is not showing in betaflight when I connect to the board? I'm using a omni f3 board!

You've got me on that one. I've had many other guys mention the same problem but its never happened to me, so I'm not sure how to fix it. Only thing I can think of is flash new firmware and when you do turn on "full chip erase". But that will erase all you settings so I'm not sure if you want to do that.

Great explanation! Just wondering, why betaflight does not disable acc when you switch to acro mode automatically? (I assume that it won't use acc when in acro mode) So that you don't have to set the on and off of the acc.

Great video JC, but I am now more confused with the actual pid loop frequency numbers of Oneshot125. I just watched Joshua Bardwell's motor/esc protocol video and he's stating that oneshot125 is capable of 4khz update rate, where you're saying it maxes out at 2khz. What's even more interesting is that I'm currently running a build on the Omnibus f3 board and little bee 30amp esc's on oneshot125 running at 8k gyro 4k pid loop and everything functions just fine. What's your take on this?

Do you mean like this video? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qc1ni6adza7Idqc.html Josh doesnt recommend going past 2k for Oneshot 125 either. My thoughts on this are it will work. But the ESCs can only receive data so fast. All the data thats not being used is being dumped and wasted. I will say there probably wont be much of a difference, because if your CPU load is fine at 4k, then thats fine. The ESC will take what it needs and throw away the rest. But instead of wasting the data you could run 8k/2k, the ESC will still receive the same amount of data, but your CPU load will be slightly lower. But then again, you probably wont see a difference if the CPU load is already under 35%. If your load is above 35% on 8k/4k then you probably will see a difference by dropping down to 8k/2k

Havent heard of that. But the way I see it, it if works then it works. I'd keep doing things the way you've been doing it. If the CPU load is good then I dont see any problem running 4k.

Will I notice a benefit as a novice if I update from stock betaflight gyro/pid frequencies of 2k/1k to something like 8k/4k for gyro and pid frequencies? I'm using a motolabs tempest flight controller, aikon 30amp esc, emax rs2205-2300 motors...thanks, great video

It doesn't matter if you are a novice, learn to fly it, after that you can play with the settings and FEEL it, there will be no difference in the flight footage or the fpv feed setting 1k/2k or 4k/4k or 32k/32k, it will change the way you feel the quad flight. PS: I have been flying all this time with 4khz/1khz just because I didn't pay attention, I just swapped to 8k/4k because the 4/1 was a complete waste having my setup (multishot, f3 Spi that can run 8/8 without reaching 20% cpu load...) And it just felt different. Someone from outside would never tell the difference.

If I want to do DShot 300 on my F4 REVO CC3D with Racerstar bR2205 2600kv motors and Racerstar v2 RS30A ESC's...What PID Loop Freq would you recommend??, and what other settings do I need to adjust? Also, what should I set Accelerometer Trim to? I noticed yours are set to 0 but mine is set to some weird numbers by default, I think...

I read a borris.b post about cpu% utilization- on the new 3.1 rc10 you can now run higher % load than before. check it out. it's probably limited to f3-SPI and up though.

So I have KINGKONG BLHeli 20A Brushless High Speed ESC With OneShot125.The motors twitch really bad unless I have them on 4 gyro and 4 pid loop. They still twitch but only now and then. Do you know why? Running the omnius F4. Got this board because of you and love it. The OSD is bad ass! Thanks.

Not sure if i have something set wrong? but with Kombini fc, multishot, on 8k/8k and with acc enabled my cpu is only 34%

Hey man thanks a lot for the education! I'm a total noob and got a basic CC3D with SimonK 12A ESCs, Betaflight 3.0.1 firmware my FC came with (from previous owner) is set up to 4/1 kHz (Gyro/PID), accelerometer is off and CPU load is 13%. Do I have to set it to 2/0.5 or 1/0.5 kHz? Since SimonK's PWM, AFAIK, is 600Hz max..

good advise ,,, what would you recommend for an f3 evo,,,(spi) Dshot 150, 300 or 600 at 8k 4k (cpu 24%) , the esc's can handle dshot 600 ?.... and a micro that has an f3 board (i2c) Dshot 150, 300 or 600 4k 4k (cpu 32%) esc's Dshot supported, ? thanks

Need help! I can not get my quad to arm. I've watched countless tutorials and still no luck. Here is the list of what I am trying to use. Space one 220x frame. Matek PDB. Naze 32 rev 6. Little bee's 20 esc's flashed to blheli. Emax red bottom motors. Using a Spektrum Dx6 transmitter and a lemon dsmx RX. I can control everything from betaflight, rx and tx are bound. If I go in to receiver settings I can see everything respond to my commands via transmitter. No arm though. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If anyone wants to fry their motor 2, just change PID loop freq to 8k while on Oneshot125. Instant smoke. Now I know, cuz of this chart, that I should have been on multishot or DShot for 8k to work on my F4 board... Cheers

Just setup 4k gyro/ .50k PID for CC3D F1 board No issues. Running around 10-12% CPU

My CPU load was 7% at 8K gyro 4K PID Loop default settings. I changed the PID Loop to 8K and now it's 17% CPU load. I hope it's fine. I'm not taking my laptop to work tomorrow.

Long as you are below 35% is my rule of thumb. Some say below 50% but I run GPS rescue. I'm running 8k 8k on a cheap VgoodRC F4 dji digital board and my CP load is 11% with accelerator on and GPS rescue enabled!!

Some of your numbers are wrong, MS does up to 40KHz, OS42 does up to 12K, also you need to say what dshot speed (150,300,600,1200) your talking about as they have limits too. Would also be helpful to mention what esc processors are good to what speed.
