She is seriously the sweetest thing. I loved her reaction to both dresses, and her concern for not wanting to hurt your feeling. I have 8 nieces, and a few are teenagers already, so believe me when I say, that reaction is not typical! I pray my daughter is as sweet as yours when she's that age.

That's a baby girl raised to be respectful even when she thinks she has to wear the old dress. I remember going shopping for my prom dress and trying to be cautious of the price so not to upset my mother. When you love your parents and respect them, good things will come.

Why would I want to wear something that's 30 years old??!" But instead she told her mom, "That's sweet, but but but...." They raised this girl well. They are a great family all around

I wouldn't toy with a teenager's emotions. Emotions are extremely fragile sometimes but it appears that these parents know and understand their daughter. She'll remember this day as long as she lives.

My prom dress was awesome, but I don't have any daughters, so I can't pull this trick off. My sister and I split the $600 dress price, we wore to two different proms. I thought the daughter was sweet about it and very humble and appreciative that her parents got her dream prom dress for her. Sweet video!

The year I was supposed to go to Junior Prom, my family was in a Baptist church that was so hyper strict in its dress codes, they really wanted all of us girls to wear long sleeves year round. My parents simply couldn't afford expensive clothes right then, so Mom and I went to a really good thrift store that carried clothes that had been well cared for during their uses, and there were only two dresses that were my size (I was very small then). One was in my favorite shade of pink, but because we were now going to a church-sponsored event, not the prom (the church did that deliberately), I couldn't get that one, it being "too revealing" (which it most certainly was not!) Since I didn't want to be a brat, I told Mom I'd just take the other one---an absolutely hideous thing in lime green with giant white polka dots all over, a white collar, and white-cuffed short sleeves. Mom was so grateful that I didn't put up a fuss, she let me wear one of her prized necklaces from her wonderful collection of costume jewelry, so I chose the emerald and jade one---and it was so gorgeous, I forgot how ugly the dress was, and just enjoyed telling everyone about my mother's generosity. That particular church is also why I'll NEVER set foot in a Protestant church again, and absolutely no Baptist establishments, EVER!!!!
