So far there is only one orchestral studio composer I've heard do horns justice, and that's Thomas Bergersen (Two Steps From Hell). His horn arrangements are absolutely amazing. He also produces entire modules, and his music is basically advertisement for them.

ice video. Maybe next time also play the horn parts with the other elements of the track at the end just to get some context and see how the saturation works in the mix.

Excellent. I'm struggling with getting a good horn section sound in Reason and was begrudgingly considering VST options, but definitely going to give these tips a go.

I find if I layer the nnxt samples in a combinator .. atleast 4 samples and pan them left and right … and insert some pulverizer.. the c670 comp u use here .. and some reverb... and a bit of scream or the softube saturation … I feel the horns come to life like theyre real... give t a go and let me know …

Great videos. With live horns, I found any room ambience made them super hard to fit in a mix.

your right about the saturation. There's like a buzz sound that's missing in all the samples. Without the buzz it doesn't sound right.

Digging your videos. Ever used Polar? I've been thinking about getting it, and in combination with Pulsar Dual LFO, basically for this purpose. Pump looks interesting; definitely going to have to check it out!. For Saturation, I've been using the free RE Softube Saturation Knob. Never thought about using Scream4 for tape saturation. I never even realized that setting existed! haha

I do have polar! it's awesome! I really liked the curve here in the Pump though. To be honest...I'm not really impressed with Soft Tube in general I have yet to use the FET compressor. I keep trying it....but it's just so lifeless to my ears. dunno. I also have the ST Sat Knob...but it's just not very smooth either imo. I'm with you, I didn't even know the Scream 4 had a really good tape saturator. I think I was getting ready to pull the plug on a Waves VST for tape saturation and then thought I'd google if there was a better RE out there first. I saw Scream show up and I was like... "wtf?!?!" Then went and looked and was very pleasantly surprised. So I made a vid :-)
