So after seeing this video I went to Costco to look for these gloves. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, when I grabbed a pack of extra large gloves & looked at the sizing chart on the back. I placed my hand on the chart exactly as directed & the ends of my fingers extended a full inch past the XL mark. Bummer.

In the winter, I buy the same Costco gloves a little larger than needed. After I break them in a little, I add a military wool liner into them. Helps a great deal from keeping my fingers from getting numb and cheaper than wearing out a good pair of ski gloves in a day.

I've used these for years. Before Costco had these, I used the W.L. "Grips" - loved those - pre-curved for your hands, so no bunch-up in the palms, but they got too expensive. I think the turn-m-inside-out crowd is because the outside seams are MUCH smoother than the inside seams. Makes some sense, but I've never bothered to use them that way.

I bought a set of these from Costco a while back and haven't really used them yet and was wondering if they were as good as they feel and if there was something better on the market. I'm happy that my spur of the moment purchase at Costco was not wasted. At work we use the cheap, "cut resistant", nitrile, glorified latex gloves that you see on most construction sites given out by the companies that nobody really likes because they don't last more than a day of hard use, and if they get wet, forget about it. I've been considering bringing these in to work and I might just do that now.

These are the kind of gloves I wear (mine are Town & Country) habitually on the allotment. They will tend to last me a season but the last lot didn't as I got a couple of slashes across fingers which eventually opened up. They are so comfy and warm, too. If you have to wash them, they come up quite good, too, if a little stiff at first.

I've always used a squirt of shaving cream on leather gloves like these that can get hard after they've been wet. Softens them right up. We used to do it with the football gloves we wore back in high school.

Thanks Cody for the great video. Next time you talk about leather, you should always mention what animal it is from. Also, to waterproof leather gloves you should use silicone spray. The only downside is the gloves can burn quicker when manipulating coals but otherwise it works great.

I use to buy gloves off of the welding truck, but what you find is their price is based off of volume you buy from them so a big company may get the same gloves for 3-5 dollars and they may charge you 8. Some times you can go to a welding shop and ask them and get them cheep and they are good gloves. Thanks for the video keep them coming!

i break in my gloves with obinoves. put a lot on my hands and i put them on then it rud my hands togther with more obinoves. i make open hand then hold a fist. after 30 minute and 2 to 3 cotes they are perfectly molded to my hands. i let them dry for the night then use them. ever time i do my boots i hit the outside of my gloves. the water resistant is amazing and the ability to gain all the dexterity right off the bat is amazing. please try it you would not beleave what a diffrence it will make. the leather really holds up a lot better to the water so they dont fall apart nearly as quickly. + best fit ever. by the way bought my smoke jumpers because of your video. best money ever spent.(besides wife.)

When I worked with the USFS some people wore the gloves inside out not because of the leather, but because of the seams in the gloves they provided were so bulky that they'd rub blisters on your fingers. I never had a problem with them and also wish I could get them.

hi everyone, as a wildland firefighter flipping the gloves inside out has become pretty popular in the service. some people are for it and others against it, it really comes down to just prefrence. from what i have personaly experienced and have talked about to other people is that its not so much about having the softer leather on the inside, but more that the seams of the stiching are on the outside of the glove instead of the inside and just makes the glove more comfortable. just like cody said the goverment issue gloves and thicker, and again like he said not all gloves are made consistently so some times the seams can be large and feel in the way.

I'm the same way with gloves. I have tried them all including the 34$ reinforced ones. I wore those cloth ones out in a day. I blow holes in the fingers. The best gloves are Wells Lamont leather. I feal the same way about insoles. Tried them all with GI issue boots. The foam ones just squish out. The Dr. Sholes gels are junk. The best insole was the ones that were issued with the boots. I finally found them after years of searching at Fleet Farm and bought the whole rack. The are a Honewell contract run under the Servex brand. One day a coworker's (welder) feet swelled up so bad he couldn't stand anymore. I gave him my last pair of insoles and some foot powder. The next day he came was happy as a clam.

In 44 + years working with my hands, the best glove I`ve seen is from the Boss Glove company. They are plastic dipped and are lined with a kind of nappy material. They are only $6 at the local tractor supply place and I can get a whole season out of them without wearing holes in them. Being that I have post nasal drip and my nose runs I need gloves that have some knit material so I can at least rub my nose and it will absorb. (Yuck)

one thing i really dislike about these kind of gloves is the inside stitching. I have a pair of old sheep fur winter gloves with outside stitching. Makes more sense to me than blisters

I also wear the same gloves and you're going to hate me for this, but I like them stiff, not supple. I normally go through pairs about as fast as you because I get holes in them, but then sometime I will wear them longer if I'm doing something that doesn't bother holes. I hadone pair I had that lasted me a few months, it was an extra thick pair, well matched, already had holes, but I left them out in the rain for a few days. They were stiff as a brick, but they never seemed to wear near as fast after that. I wouldn't suggest it, but it is a thought. Could help.

Turning the gloves inside out was due to the old white leather FSS gloves that had a HUGE amount of extra leather where the fingers were stitched together. There was so much leather in the finders that it actually cut into your hand when you formed a fist. It was the reason I purchased my own gloves instead of wearing my issued ones. It's been 15+ years since I had a pair of those, so I don't know if they still have that same problem.

I haven't tried leather gloves but I do hardscaping and my first day I had a pair of 60.00 mechanix gloves that I had for two years they lasted about 4 hours then there was more electrical tape than glove on my hand. Since, I've been buying the wells lamont blue and grey latex and the insulated ones that are brown with black latex or rubber on the palm and fingers and for about 3-6 bucks they last anywhere from a week to a month depending on what I'm doing at work. But no two pairs are a like in thickness or in the insulated category in insulation some are better than others I've found if you can try them on before u buy. My issue with leather would be they would absorb sweat and after a few days stink. But I think I'll try a pair out next time I buy some gloves

15 dollar Napa Goatskin Gloves from the Home Depot are what I use for hauling firewood. Almost as flexible as cloth gloves, but they're tough enough to stop a thorn. A bonus is that, when you wear holes in the palm, the leather is soft and supple that you can reverse them and wear them backwards for a few more months of use.

Big box stores really affect the the local economies because it doesn't circulate wealth as effectively in terms of the economic health of the community. Yes it's cheaper to shop at Walmart or a home depot rather than a local hardware store...but that local hardware store was probably in business for generations and gave character to a town. To me, that holds much more value than the $15 that I might save by going to home depot.

There may be a few problems with your system if your gloves are only lasting 2-3 weeks. If you are going through a pair this fast, then you are overstressing what is a general purpose glove. There is a lot of purpose built gloves out there that you should check into, because the glove you use moving firewood may not be the glove you use working on your car or weeding the garden, or whatever you may be doing.

I too can rarely find my size. My problem, however, is that they rarely make a glove big enough for me. Sometimes I can find a XXL that will fit, but XXXL gloves would be better most of the time. I simply tear large and XL gloves apart trying to get my hand inside. It always amazes me, they make a million things for the "average" person but the small and large are just out of luck. Try finding good, made in USA, size 15 or 16 boots.

I have looked into some of the serious work boots. Most of the good ones are very expensive. Some day I will hopefully be able to afford a $500 pair that will last over a decade. I have patched those gloves with old gloves and contact cement it works. Then you can use them even longer.

I've always seen these recommended by everyone from Nutnfancy to Dave Canterbury. I'll probably pick up a few packs soon.

I hope you see this comment and then able to respond! I am 25 years old, and I am working most commonly in industrial sites, sometimes commercial, sometimes residential. Everything from cabinetry and doing sheet rock all the way to scaffolding in refineries. What I do most is industrial electrical, work, new construction, but also quite a bit of terminating. Currently, I am working in Solar fields and doing commissioning for that, start up, testing. My question is what is your pick for a good all rounder leather glove, that is very durable and last a long time, but also has a ANSI safety rating for arc flashes or electrical shock? I know leather naturally is protective against those, I need one that I can just show safety that I am being safe and everything is approved. Thank you so much!

For myself I bought a pair of tig welding gloves ya they are gauntlet style but I have died and gone to heaven. I can't stand thick gloves or ones that don't fit right feels like a straight jacket on my hands. The tig gloves are soft and you have good dexterity. I lose my temper when I'am trying to do something and I have lost the dexterity in my fingers because of the gloves. Of course you find nice gloves that work then they get discontinued grrr, really, the search to find something else. You were taking about cable jaggers, anybody that has never felt one cut your hand open doesn't know what hurts, stings like you wouldn't believe. It happens fast too before you can say ouch your bleeding.
