You guys do some of the best training videos on the internet. Very detailed and you guys don't talk down to people and don't act "cocky" like a lot of the videos on the internet. Thanks so much! You answered a question I had in a comment on a previous video regarding bringing my support hand index finger in front of the trigger guard! In that same video, you mentioned Isometric Tension. I find that this tip really helps me to steady my aim. I'm really enjoying your videos. I'm so glad you preface this by saying this is a good atrting point, the grip can change over time, there's multiple techniques. Yes, I've watched countless KZfaq firearms trainers everyone seems to have just a slight variation of grip and stance, and personal preferences thrown in. My own technique is sort of a combination of several that I've combined over the years lol is it perfect or optimal, probably not but it works for me and it works for my gun. Example, if I grip my support hand too high up on the frame the slide release lever doesn't lock the slide back on the last round so I grip just a hair lower on it to make it work. I've adjusted to make it work for me and the gun I use.

Can you explain the shooting corrections chart for handguns? I’ve seen it a couple times but you seem to break things down a little more than others generally do so I think it would definitely be helpful.

You may find the info on Birchwood's Shoot-N-C 12x18 inch handgun trainer targets. Better yet find a good instructor to work with. If near San Diego you may want to sign up for TH classes. Judging by these videos they will be of great help.

I'm glad you made reference to the support hand thumb. I have really short thumbs. I'm not able to extend my thumb near the rail. So, my thumb is raised a little higher on the slide. I actually have a better grip when my thumb is raised.

Hi Myles. Another great video. I many times carry a revolver in the woods and sometimes a featherweight in the pocket. I was taught to interlock my thumbs behind the hammer to avoid placement near the barrel/cylinder gap. How about working in a revolver refresher?

I’m really happy that you have a dry fire magazine. I went with your promotion and try to get one but guess what they don’t sell them for Canik TP, 9 elite or a new MC their Glock people so remember that when you give them a shout out next time Because I really want to dry fire magazine for my Canik Cause I really appreciate your training and knowledge, but I can’t even get a dry fire magazine😢😢

Is it alright to put your finger over the trigger guard on a sub-compact pistol if it gives you more stability?

I have a handgun on the cheaper side, a Taurus g3. I have seen plenty other videos where skilled shooters get great groups with it. Honest outlaw specifically, it would be child's play for him to hit at 50 yards with it, and sometimes even out to 100 yards. I have practiced proper grip and trigger pull, but myself being a right handed shooter, I consistently group low to the left at 7 yards. I don't want to blame my handgun because I have seen other people on here group well with my exact same gun, so I am convinced I had to be doing something wrong. Just yesterday I watched a video on proper use of the support hand where the guy said one should push forward with the support hand until you feel the muscles in the forearm of the support hand stretch just a little bit and this would help stop the low left groups. I have yet to try this. Could he be onto something?

Often times my support hands get sweaty because I am gripping so tightly and that's what causes my grip to break apart... Any recommendations? Chalk? Liquid chalk?

Relax, and go with a talon grip, will make all the difference in the grip situation

All of those are good to use, plus the type of stipple on the grip. Along with those, work on having pliable palms. Ask Myles to discuss the clam shell and nutcracker to use leverage verses strength. Sometimes when we focus on gripping hard we also tense the skin of our palms and that hard surface doesn’t adhere very good to the surface of the grip. With tense palms the surface tension with the grip is easy to break.

Gloves are a good option for most scenarios. Mechanix is the go-to, I've also had good results with Saints of Speed.

I got a question. Should the support hand have more or less pressure depending on the caliber of the gun, or the charge of the round?

I find that once you train with the correct grip and squeeze, and have that same repetition over and over, it does not matter what gun, caliber or charge. I can pick up any of my pistols, any caliber from 22lr to 45acp, (even 50desert Eagle) and bc I use the same grip and pressure always, I can run them all the same. I’m no professional shooter, but once you find you best(favorite) CORRECT grip, you can run any pistol.

Everyone has a different way to have you grip a pistol. Best thing is use all these suggestions and find a grip you feel comfortable with and shoot accurately .

I've seen frail girls not break their pistol grip even after rapid fire recoils which means it's not so much about grip strength as compared to where you place your hand that provides the best leverage. Jerking your pistol upwards as if you're firing your shot can show you where you need to focus on in terms of placement and pressure

I have long skinny monkey hands and fingers. Both thumbs pointing straight up otherwise they stick out in front of the muzzle with anything 3.5" barrel or shorter.

“Proper” handgrip teaching techniques ignore the fact that not everyone has “proper” hand size to achieve the standard grip.

Thumbs are there for grip and fools use just one. This style is just wrong.

The angle of the support hand should not exceed 12 to 17°. That 30 to 45° grip angle does not allow you any support of that weapon and trying to lift your elbow to pressurize the side of the weapon is not giving you any advantage. The other thing virtually every trainer I've ever seen forget to teach is how to shoot one handed. A minimum of 10 to 15% of your training should be shooting one-handed, as well as with either hand. Get a good Weaver hold because a weaver allows you to shoot with the gun all the way up almost against your chest. As if you're in a closed quarters environment, like inside your home. And please quit locking your elbows. I know that 9 mm are adequate. As long as you have other people with you to help return fire. But they aren't the Panacea the FBI believes. You should be shooting the most effective caliber that you can handle
