What I love about the three Raimi Spiderman movies is all the side characters in just one or two scenes are so much more 3 Dimensional and memorable than it's given credit for. Bruce Campbell's French Guy character being an excellent example of that.

It's a shame this movie got so much hate until recent years and that was primarily bc of meme culture. Spider-Man 3 had problems but it addressed some real problems like dysfunctional relationships and harboring unhealthy anger against people who hurt someone you cared for.

Sam M. Raimi is as sadistic as he's talented. Forcing Bruce Campbell to say he's french is the least sadistic element in the whole thing.😊

What annoyed me was that he thought it was okay to kiss someone else and then expect her to be okay with it enough to say yes to a marriage proposal, like how can you be that clueless with someone?

4:27 to 4:32 cracks me up every time. MJ just seems torn between petty jealousy and internally laughing her ass off at how oblivious Gwen sounds with that statement. XD

This is how you do character growth. In this film Peter finally gets pretty much all he ever wanted (even more with a new suit that seems to make him even better at his spider-job) and that gets to his head. He becomes a self-righteous prick who is incapable of seeing other people’s problems, the story is about HIM. After everything he went through, he must yet again learn a hard one : getting what you think you deserve doesn’t make you a better person nor does it make the world a better place. In Far From Home, Peter is sad because he gave AI glasses to a guy he met twice.

So sad the two eventually broke into an argument that ended with MJ leaving and the proposal not working out as perfectly planned and kindly helped by such a kind hearted man.

This scene broke my heart... Peter is wrong, I know. But he was in Love with MJ... He was about to purpose her. And she went away...

To everybody hating on MJ for her inconstancy, this is the film trilogy where we actually get a glimpse into her backstory. Unlike Peter, who was raised in a healthy and supporting environment, MJ grew up in a broken home with an abusive alcoholic father. As a result her constant struggle throughout the three films is with believing in her own self-worth and finding somebody who truly respects her, rather than just wearing her as a badge on his sleeve. She may appear inconstant and fickle but bear in mind that throughout her formative years she never had a good example of a healthy, loving and respectful relationship. She must find that out absolutely on her own but she is plagued by self-doubt. What I love about this franchise is how believably her character was written and how humanly it was portrayed by Kirsten Dunst.

Fun fact: Bruce Campbell also voiced the tutoring narrator in Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3 games. That explains why they were so intrigued by him a lot, and also being the most best known star in a classic Raimi movie known as the Evil Dead as Ash himself. "Groovy!"

I love the French waiter and every time Peter waved, he would do his best to do as Peter requested. Good at his job. I do feel like Peter didn’t bring up Gwen because he felt like she wasn’t worth mentioning to MJ but he should have mentioned Gwen to MJ all the same. And kissing Gwen for a photo definitely didn’t help either. Peter let the fame and appreciation from the city finally loving Spider-Man got to his head in a terrible way. As for MJ, she should have told Peter about being fired from Broadway instead of not saying anything. How exactly was Peter suppose to know? Then again, Peter could have noticed that her name was no longer on the broadway sign as well and asked her so there is that. Either way, communication is one of the big major keys to a relationship. He didn’t put her first like Aunt May advised Peter when giving her the ring. I’ll leave it at that. Thanks for uploading.

There is a reason he is dating her. He saved her life several times, he is playing a hero and himself, he was pushed into a deep sadness in the second movie, and more. He wasn’t very self aware though.

I love this entire scene because it actually shows a realistic relationship. Most heroes would develop to finally have the hero get the girl with no complications afterward. This relationship was finally attained prior movie but we see how relationships are not easy. I am glad of this scene because it shows that heroes aren’t perfect and that Peter has no idea how to be a supporting companion to someone he claims to love. When we were kids we all hated Mary Jane here and were in Peter’s side; of course we were because he was Spidey and the main character so it was easy for us to see that he was not the bad guy here when the whole time he was; something we don’t realize once we grow up. And all of us back when we were teens say that we wanted girlfriends? We all were no different from Peter here: we don’t know how to be supportive of a girl’s struggles and times of need. Mary Jane isn’t the bad guy here.

I remember watching this scene as a kid and wondering why Mary Jane was being so difficult. Seeing it now, I'm just wondering how Peter managed to carry on a conversation with Mary Jane for so long with his foot in his mouth.

But i have to disagree about the kiss, she kissed JJ son in the second movie the same way she kissed Spidey on the first movie, the same way Spidey kiss Gwen on this movie. That little subtle sign misunderstanding between Peter and the waiter (the second sign communication I mean), had it not happened, it's likely the misunderstanding between MJ and Peter would have been cleared right away. Sam Raimi really is sadistic.

I always disliked MJ growing up for always giving Peter, or Spiderman, crap for every little thing. Now that I'm an adult, I understand why now and would definitely do the same. Why would he kiss another girl at all, and especially by kissing her the exact same way he kissed MJ that made MJ fall in love with him?!!

MJ has a bad habit of running away from people throughout this movie. Is it supposed to be a metaphor for how she's always running away from her problems?

I like this lovers quarrel scene, the directors shows the feeling (spider sense😁😆)why the proposal went wrong. Not because of the charming blonde lady 😁but because the reactions of the actor peter parker is like a not ready personality (meaning not complete to go into a serious relationship) but mj is already matured and complete into it.😁 I give an applause to the director👏👏👏

Peter didn't listen to her in this scene when she was about to say how she felt also when Mj said that was "our kiss" she referring to when she first kissed peter in his spiderman outfit in The first movie in the ally
