Absolutely amazing detailed breakdown of the entire process. Why on earth haven’t I been saving ever last drop of wasted resin in a separate container like that?!? Goal for 2022 is to make a spray booth like that 🤯

I'ma be honest, that killed part of my soul when he added plastic eyes instead of lenses. I know it's a prop, but you can't tell me that everyone DOESN'T have a desire to wear a build like this, and NOT be disappointed when you can't see out of it. Lol Great build!

You are correct about the talc. Body fillers are basically just polyester resin, like you would use for fiberglass work, with fillers like talc to create the paste consistency. You can also make your own out of regular polyester or epoxy resin and add in talc or glass bead till you get the consistency you want.

As a fellow prop maker, I must say, you're truly legit. I have been using resin and spray putty interchangeably for years, but your method to add talcum powder is new to me. I've learnt something exciting, can't wait to try it. I don't think dedicated small bottles of uv resin is practical. Just because the props which makers makes are usually very big. One difference is, I use a large UV torchlight and a wider brush than yours to cover wider areas faster. I usually make 8 of these at the same time 🤭 Btw, with masking tape, hardware stores sells low tack(low adhesion) masking tape for hobby paints like this. You're totally right that masking tape will tear off paint, I make masks too and got my fair share of this problem. I'm using the low tack masking tape from 3M now and they save me a ton of rework.

Cowl is a pull over, usually stretchy material that form fits to your head. A cowl can have protective elements and still be a cowl. Whereas a helmet is usually rigid and placed over the head and non form fitting. A helmet could still have padding that helps it fit better.

As someone who's read and admired the Wolverine character since the 70's, I tip my proverbial my hat to your skills and enthusiasm. Bravo! On a side note, it's interesting to see this "armoring" of superhero costumes of late. In all honesty, I didn't like it for the MCU Spiderman movies since it wasn't Spidey anymore; more like Iron Man with a spider motif (so I'm glad they fixed it in the last film). That said, if you would've described this Wolvy mask before making it, I would've cringed; however, seeing it tickles my fanboy pysche something fierce. Great work!

Reusing resin that you already have is great, but when you don't have it I found that hardening putty is the best stuff EVER. They make this hardening putty with both tiny and micro bits of steel in and that shit because rock fucking hard in an hr after its done fully curing. That shit is AWESOME, only down fall is you have to get good with getting it flat and as smooth as you want it in that hour time frame otherwise it becomes much harder sand out any leftover. That's why atleaat for me I got really good at using it on things that have flat surfaces and were easy to smooth in the lines, like the Ghostbusters 3d printed trap parts. In fact that was the first thing I used it on actually and it came out great, and I just kept on going from there. Now I'm looking forward to becoming acquainted with this and possibly even merging the 2 if possible and the prop/print calls for it

Sanding sucks because the plastic tends to melt if you try to work fast. The sandpaper gets clogged and needs renewing all the time. You also have to use different grain of sandpaper to reach a good result. A wood scraper instead gives excellent smooth finish and allows to remove material 10 times faster. I have some parts that would take 3-4 hours of sanding, but done in 20 minutes with a scraper. Also, a scraper can be sharpened so the expense converges toward zero. Seriously, if you do any 3d printing or wood working, look into scraping instead of sanding, it's a life changer....
