I laughed when you listed "Bad drivers" as a con. I'm like, you're kidding me. I lived in Miami and Atlanta, and when I came here one of the most beautiful pros to me was the driving. Traffic is not bad and drivers are way more respectful than the most other large cities. You have to have lived elsewhere to know that.

I moved to CBUS in 1987 from Southern California. I was blowen away about the Politeness of people. Now CBUS has Grown and rapidly, I love being able to experience the different seasons. As for the Drives I would agree it sucks however with the Rapid Grow of Columbus the Road systems cannot handle the Growth CBUS is working on this but a little behind. I would love to see a Mass Transit system put in, there has been talks about Amtrak from Columbus to Cleveland, Cincinatti and Chicago but I think that is a long way off. I love how CBUS has created Life downtown brining people back to downtown. for a while the Suburbs have grown too fast.

To each their own. I cant see why anyone would want to have to spend 20 extra minutes fighting traffic to get to a place that already was taking 20 minutes to get to before when it should have taken 7 minutes to get to to begin with? Not for the sake of arguing, just a differing pov. Take care my fellow neighbor, maybe ill see you around.

@@vickzfofo7437 I get what you are saying. More people more traffic. I'm trying to say i wish we didn't need a car to get around the city therefore there would be less traffic because folks are walking, biking, and taking transit. Less car dependency Come to Clutch Handheld Breakfast and say hello

You were quite kind in your critique of the public transit issue. We are HORRIBLY behind the times when it come to public transportation, and show little interest in actual fixes. Just lame, cheap attempts at BRT in the pipeline. Our best solutions? New roads! Wider highways! More asphalt!

Public transportation will never improve in any part of the nation no matter what, the reason is the car manufacturers and the gas producers will never let such thing happen because it's a huge loss for them; when you reduce the time driving your personal vehicle; same thing with the handmade bumps and pod holes that we see on the road everyday made by the city construction personnel to create a need for multibillion dollar construction contract and also to cause more tear and wear to every vehicle on the road which means more maintenance cost = more spare parts being sold = more possibility to have millions of people buy new vehicles = more money into the car manufacturers pockets, all of the above is on our expense.

Also it's not affordable, the house next to mine just sold 900sqft in a high crime area for 250000. The house next to it is also for sale and has sat for almost a year empty because no one will pay those prices.

Yeah it's crazy. Finally saved up money for (what I thought was) a worthwhile down payment on a house at the start of 2020. Only to find houses were selling for almost double what they sold for a year or 2 prior, then the interest rates doubled/tripled and supposedly "folks" were offering 30 to 40k or more over asking price. If you were to offer 10k over asking a realtor would tell you to offer more if you want to be taken seriously! Houses were going for 120 to 160k in my moderate crime neighborhood where ALL of the grocery stores, decent shopping stores and restaurants have been shut down and moved north to what use to be the high class Polaris area. Now they are asking 250 to 350k just because they can. Sad part is, even that once "high class" Polaris area is rapidly becoming run down and trashy. The housing prices have gone the wrong way if you ask me, atleast in my area. If this is what Intel is bring to Columbus it's time to move on.... except, this rapid growth has even plagued the rural areas with the same housing market trend. It's sad for those of us who just want to live a simple life, raise a family and get by. I don't see how, with a 50k down payment on a house your mortgage could easily still be over 2k a month (conservatively) for 30 years and that is considered "affordable"?

you should let people know that people are leaving Columbus,as well because of increased prices. rent has increased 20% in Columbus in the last year. over 20% of recent home purchases are corporate buyers. public transportation is what it is here because Columbus isnt a huge metro area,it's just one county. you dont need rail like Atlanta or Chicago has because Columbus isnt Atlanta or Chicago. Columbus been a restaurant test market since the 50's,that's nothing new. Bethel rd is the premier food scene in Columbus, definitely not downtown. real estate taxes have increased over 20% in the last 3 years in Columbus Columbus public schools are one of the worst school systems in the country.85% of city schools are graded way below average.

Extremely car-centric, and govenor announced plans to add car lanes too accomodate Intel, but still no passenger trains🤪🤪🤪

@@LivinginColumbusOhio614 growth is good, it's when the city doesn't plan well around it. My wife has a job interview in Marion next week. Hopefully within a month we'll be packing out of Portland for that area. With rent so low I think we can afford to pay off our debt in a year and think about purchasing or building in mid 2024. Intel being there will likely double home prices within five years. However, your area seems like it has a decent amount of tech moving in so I bet it's already moving that needle. The move works for me and the creator friends I work for. This will put me within eight hours of almost all of them. I can be on site same day to fix tech problems and we'll be in the same time zone making live stream support less of a burden.

@@gif24gt60 Intel is actively hiring all of our plants employees. They have the top 2 highest pay and benefits package in the area for companies hiring 50 or more people a year. Portland was already a boom because of all the headquarters here, but the Intel activity recently has compounded it. The Intel office here had Obama visit and the secret service refused to make him wear a clean suit. Intel paid millions of dollars to let him walk in unchecked for a 20 minutes visit to their clean room for photos. That kinda local f$#k you spending trickles down to their packages for employees. We make over 110k a year as a household and can't afford meat we can identify most of the time. It's insane out here.

I've lived here 35 years and this city has become so bad. 20 years ago it wasn't but the last 10-5 oh my gosh. Crime is everywhere. Just everywhere. Traffic is impossible between 2-7 pm over the entire city and surrounding areas and sometimes later. Prices on everything are skyrocketing and quality is going straight down. It's mostly become full of entitled immigrant and urban people's who have no respect of others, each other or themselves. IE the high crime. Many don't carry licenses or insurance. Just watch the citizen app for a day. The police constantly have 15-20 situations at any given time. It's become like Cincinnati and Cleveland but worse. The only people with money are the blood sucking Realtors and businesses than came in, flipped everything and left. You can't buy used cars from families anymore, it's all foreign non English speakers selling shady used stuff they fixed on the cheap. No one wants to work. I've worked downtown in an office and outside the outer belt at big companies and I can attest the entire city has become a cesspool.
