To me the transfer portal is one of the best things the NCAA has come up with. Every D1 team has multiple players at every position, and they should be able to transfer if they aren’t playing. You can’t play 2 players at the same position, at the same time. As the guys said on the show here, 3 of the 4 Heisman finalists this year were transfer portals. Do you think for one minute Joe Burrow would be where he is without the transfer portal? Of course not. Yes the coaches do it all the time. They get a better offer and they take it and I can’t blame them for that. But Coach Randy Edsall is completely wrong saying that it’s wrong for the athletes to be able to transfer, but not him.

There should be a set period that players can use the transfer portal. The transfer period should open right after the National Championship Game and end in June or July, before fall camp starts. Players can go through Spring football and if they think need to look for a better situation they can. Players should NOT be able to transfer after Fall camp has started or during the season. I am still undecided on players having to sit out after transferring, that is something that needs to be worked out.

Should coaches be able to leave their job during that time?

You should only be allowed to transfer once, & if you made the wrong decision that’s tough luck.

If I’m not a starter by sophomore year, I’m transferring. Don’t care what anyone says.

Yet again you got players that been on the team for years then you got incoming recruits. you got the players wanting to transfer because you took a recruit over ya upcoming player that was next in line, but yet again it gives the players opportunity to play at another school instead of wasting eligibility over the school they first was at.

Yeah. As someone who works with a college program, there are pros and cons to it. You can loose guys you really like and stuff, but at the same time if its not working they arent tied down etc.

Only the true competitors will work their way up the depth chart. It looks as though the percentage of athletes who are chronic transfers will never reach their estimated potential. Im sure any of them regret doing so.

Transfer Portal on paper is a good thing, but it allows Players to quit on team. I do think if a Head Coach leaves you should be able to transfer without having to sit.
@fasternights297

Honestly they're no quitting. Nobody wants to waste their eligibility and sit behind others when their might be holes on other teams where you think you can do better

I hate it when people are like oh he wasn’t good enough to win the job, one of the worst qbs I’ve ever seen at a big time school is jake Fromm and you mean to tell me Justin fields didn’t “win” the starting job? Give me a break and good on fields for not getting screwed by Kirby smart

The transfer portal is a joke. Players no longer have loyalties to the programs that recruited them. And people seem to be missing the obvious point… players that choose to transfer are not good enough to compete for positions on their current teams. That’s why they opt to leave, hoping to find a team that they can just slot into.
@dariangartrell5620

If they aren’t good enough, then they are of no use to the current team, right? So it shouldn’t matter if they transfer

Man white people don’t get it . Dudes only have four years of eligibility and like the guy said what if it isn’t the right situation, what if family issues arise. Why are you assuming they don’t like competition, even though it is a valid point most of these guys are banking on making the league and don’t have time to sit. The sport is dominated by African American athletes, this and basketball are the only sports with so much restrictions. In baseball you can get drafted and paid and still attend and play in college. But y’all not ready for that conversation
