A public open house for the Provo City Center Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begins on January 15, 2016, following a five-year renovation of the former Provo Tabernacle. The tabernacle was a more than century-old icon located in the central Utah community of Provo. Learn more: www.mormonnewsroom.org/article...

My brother lives a couple blocks from the Provo City Temple and his daughter can see the angel Moroni from her bedroom window. Every night, she says, "Good Night, Moroni!" and in the mornings, "Good Morning, Moroni!" It inspired her dad, (my brother) to write a children's book titled, "Good Morning, Moroni"... it's beautiful and features the Provo City Temple.

The detail, the craftsmanship, everything is so perfectly made. Those who worked on every aspect of the temple; the furnishings, the woodwork and detail were truly very talented and inspired. I love this Temple of the Lord.

Every inch of this building is beautiful. There is such a rich symbolic significance to the process this temple went through. The spirit in this building has brought me so much peace. The Lord can lift us out of the ashes of our poor choices, difficulties and heartaches and turn us into something some much more amazing than we were before.

It was so devastating to see this beautiful, historic building go up in flames. I was born & raised in Provo, and this building was always so very special to so many of us. Many graduations, school programs, concerts, etc. were in the tabernacle. So grateful it has been rebuilt into a gorgeous Mormon temple! Love it!

Wow! Absolutely STUNNING! The aesthetics and craftsmanship are beyond words. I've always loved the look of wood and glass and light. I'm so glad the Lord approved of us wanting to rebuild the structure. What a bonus to bring it back to life as a temple. I think my favorite phrase or expression about the need for temples comes from our hymn book, hymn #289, "Holy Temples on Mount Zion". It begins with the lyrics "Holy temples on Mount Zion, in a lofty splendor shine. Avenues to exaltation, emblems of a love divine." The 12 people who voted thumbs down above will someday understand all these temples stand for, "avenues to exaltation", indeed!

Before the fire, it wasn't a temple. It was a tabernacle, which is more like a large capacity church and community center for concerts, graduations, funerals, conferences etc. Because of it's age and architectural significance, it was a huge loss to lose it to fire. Had it been a less important building, it probably would have just been demolished and a more modern building constructed to replace the spot.

R. Mat, it wasn't actually a temple that burned, it was a tabernacle-- used for conferences and things. After it burned, they decided to use what was left and build a temple. It truly is amazing, though! It's a miracle that they were able to do it. Love seeing the Lord's hand at work. Truly beautiful.

Just Sheilz This is not a Mormon church. Their churches are actually very austere. This is a Mormon temple, where they go during the week, not Sundays, to learn secret handshakes (which they think are necessary to enter the Celestial Kingdom) and to do proxy baptisms for the dead.

It was sad when it burned but it was also very beautiful as a contrast of fire and ice (from the hoses)... how often do you get to see something like that AND then they fix it afterwards?! I do wish they had kept it as a community center, but it was their building and their money so I'm not going to be mad that they saved it at all rather than demolishing. Must have been horridly expensive. But it really is a lovely structure.

We have here in Texas many., because of the warm weather.. Despite the fact that we have a City Manager belonging to Your Faith.. I didn't 't see any of the contribution the Church doing for Homeless population., .. Hopefully he will read your comments and will delegate the message so we can afford to support this daily increase of Homeless which already became Helpless.. +Margareta Fratila Margareta -- the Mormon church (actual name LDS - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) does a ton of charitable giving. I believe our church has the highest % of peoples' monies that are donated & those funds go to many people - worldwide. We, as members, give a monthly tithe of 10% of our income to what is called "Fast Offerings" that goes to many people & organizations who are doing great things - not just in our own city & state, but throughout the USA & the world. We have a bishop's warehouse that stores much food & necessities that are given to those less fortunate or who are "hurting" because of unemployment, sickness or other hard times. So, please don't judge us by a temple, or anything else, as we are a very giving people. I hope God will bless you in your life!
@jpcodnia9133
@jpcodnia9133 8 жыл бұрын
+Margareta Fratila Yes, i have reflected on the huge problem you mention for years. The solution has to come from salary readjustments needed in certain areas: NBA players earning 15,000,000 dollars a year. NFL stars making 20,000,000 a year. the Opras, Beyonces, etc making over 100,000,000 in just 12 months...Recently, i took as example one of them who made 245 million and compared it to average household usa staying alive with 24 K,the numbers do not lie, that family man would have to work 10,000 years to match the salary of the other one... Can you see it now, how crazy the ultra-rich agenda really is? and as a fact we all know that wealth drives ppl to depression and madness bcos we are meant (by design) to integrate with others, not to place ourselves well above them as if we were their gods. Btw, this also applies to jobs that keep rich ppl under the radar of fame... The temple is a must for those of us who believe. Our devotion is not negotiable or subject to elimination..other expenses should, instead. LDS member, love my Lord and need His relationship with me every day. My covenant will remain.

The population of Provo is less than 4% black. It's almost all white and Latino. So just percentage wise, there were only a few people in the video, it's not very likely there would be any people in it besides white people and Latinos.

They still sing in The American Fork Tabernacle. I have seen and heard the marvelous renditions of Handel's Messiah all over the valley as performed in High School Auditoriums. These have been interfaith supported. They come around at Easter. You are welcome to attend.
