I don't know why, but both me and my dad love this series to death. He's 65, he does not watch KZfaq, but fuck does he love SungWon's reviews of food variations.

I feel like what this video needed to round it off would be ProZD seeing if, given his now advanced knowledge of Subway fillings, could create the perfect custom sub for him. As that is the spirit of their food.

I’m really glad you did not do this in one sitting. Initially, I was impressed but very scared.

I'm still so baffled why Subway ever took the Pizza Sub off of their menu. It combines the best parts of the Meatball Marinara along with their pretty okay pepperoni into something I actually like quite a bit. That said, I've still been able to ask for a Pizza Sub despite it not being on the menu, and only once have I been told I can't get it. It's the only sandwich from Subway I would ever recommend to someone.

As a vegetarian, I love the fact that the two veggie options were within the first three you reviewed. And you honestly summed them up so well. It reminds me why I haven't been to Subway in years.

Since the pandemic I just make my own sandwiches. But when I used to frequent Subway, my go-to was the spicy Italian on herbs and cheese bread with provolone, black olives, lettuce, spinach, and mustard. Def my favorite from them. Probably could add oregano and pepper but I never did.

I worked at Subway for several years back in the late 90s and one of the "perks" was essentially unlimited free food... From memory, basically the only thing I ever got was tuna wraps where I'd microwave the double bacon double pepper jack in the wrap before adding the tuna and some extra brown mustard... It was "fine" though from experience working temp at OTHER subways that didn't have our throughput I wouldn't recommend getting the tuna unless it was made same-day. I don't remember a single other thing being edible other than maybe the meatball if you were really really hungry and added a squirt of vinegar (sounds crazy I know but someone in the area discovered it and all the college kids ordered it that way and I have to admit, the extra acid somehow made it slightly better). I will note that if the Subway is dead (and these days they usually are) you might be able to get your "artist" to dice the green peppers and onions... they're raw, they really need it.

Former Subway Employee. I thought I'd give share some tips and tricks to help you build a better sandwich for yourself: Bread: I noticed the plain white or wheat breads have better texture and don't fall apart/get soggy as easily, and the wheat fares better. Therefore I personally always go for plain wheat, plus it's supposed to be healthier or whatever who knows. Order of assembly: Subway likes to have you put on the sauces at the end. But for thick sandwiches with a lot of stuff in it, what this does is the sauces are on top of the vegetables towards the open side and it becomes a wet sticky mess on the outside when it gets wrapped. Therefore, you may ask for some of the sauces after the meat, and before you put on veggies. This way the meat acts as a barrier between the bread so it doesn't make it soggy. Still gonna be a little messy, but that's just what happens to overstuffed sandwiches. You can also ask us to dig out some of the bread for you, if you want less carbs or more room to stuff veggies, though it might compromise its structural integrity if it gets soggy. Toasting: Veggies (especially tomatoes) are super wet -- you can ask to put tomatoes and onions on the sandwich to be toasted together. For example, if you want a toasty sandwich but don't want your meat to be hot, ask to just toast the bread with tomatoes & onions first, then put on the meat etc. REALLY helps to prevent a soggy sandwich, plus toasty tomatoes & onions are real nice. You can have any kind of sandwich toasted as much as you want, go nuts (I think it's like 25 cents to toast or smth, whatever). Also, you can have the meat heated up separately without toasting the sandwich, we'll just microwave it for you. On the side: You can ask for pickles, banana peppers, jalapenos on the side, and they'll put it in a little sealed cup for you. Also works for sauces, we'll pour some sauce into cups, and it's a great way to taste test different sauces by dipping your sandwich into each one, rather than committing a sauce to the entire sandwich. Or you can just bring it home and hoard honey mustard. Extra Veggies: Don't be afraid to ask for a ton of extra certain toppings. I love pouring olives onto my sandwich. But keep in mind, if you have too much shit in there your sandwich will be unclosable and fall apart. That becomes a hassle and we don't like it, so don't go overboard. Finally: You can literally customize your sandwich in many ways. If we have time we'll do it for you, the system should allow it. I've seen people put crazy amounts of different meat on it, or pour a bag of crushed lays chips into the sandwich. This isn't for everyone though. The most I ever did was combine a serving of cold cut combo onto my turkey because I wanted it to be more filling. Cookies: They're actually really damn good, I have no fucking clue how Subway sources such criminally good cookies. Definitely try them out (my favorite was the raspberry cheesecake). Yeah, Subway's definitely not for everyone (RIP SungWon), and I'd say it's more of a cult for the people who do enjoy it (like me). The sandwich you choose to make can either be great or horrible, and it takes a lot of trial and error to figure out what works and what doesn't. There's a seemingly infinite number of combinations and ways to arrange them, and not everyone has the time, money, or appetite to do so. That, plus the fact that a good sandwich is entirely subjective makes it all the more challenging, especially for picky eaters. But when you do find a good recipe, damn it's awesome. But I hope this helps.

Back when they still had the $5 footlong the meatball sub was one of my favorites. I was in early highschool at the time and I always used to skate from my house just to get it and then one time one of the meatballs had something SUPER hard in it that I was not able to identify and I was turned off ever since.

Well, ProZD is right about the Meatball Marinara being the best - here's a ProTip: Add pepperoni to it, with a little parmesan cheese. *Chef's kiss* The turkey hate, I will not stand for, however. Maybe Subway turkey, sure... but overall, a good turkey sandwich slaps hard. Plain and simple.

Funnily enough my repeat order no matter what from Subway was a meatball marinara on Italian herb and cheese toasted with some kind of cheese… and pickles. That last part has gotten me so many looks in my life, and personally I don’t think I’ll ever be able to explain my love of that sandwich, but it is amazing.

The first time I went to subway I was seventeen during a trip to Ireland. Nobody spoke my native language and I didn't speak English that well yet. Because of the shock of the sudden realization that I had to choose what went to the sandwich, I panicked and just pointed at stuff under the baffled look of the subway employee. I composed a sandwich of yellow onion, red onions and 3 different type of cheese. Raw. Nothing else in there. I maintained my composure pretty well, so everyone thought that this weird ass meal was the thing I was aiming for from the beginning. It honestly didn't tasted that bad.

Ex-subway manager here Veggie Patty: is called Veggie Max, pretty tasty and goes well with sweet onion sauce or honey mustard. Steak and Cheese: should have had Chipotle on it, that's the #1 recommendation Addtionally, toasting the Peppers and Onions with the bread and meat really change the flavor Veggie Delight: is meh, if u want a veggie sandwich, get the veggie max. Cold Cut Combo: is your basic Bologna sandwich, recommend oil and vinegar with abunch of seasoning. Chick Bacon Ranch: is decent how it is, recommend not tomato, tomato adds too much watery texture. BLT: is decent for a basic sandwich, not much u can adjust to that. Turkey: is super basic by itself, wouldnt recommend alone. Turkey Italiano: is better, but still pretty basic how it normally comes. Recommend Chipotle to add some spice and some Jalapenos. Meatball: by itself isnt bad, dont forget parm cheese. (IF U WANT TO BE ADVENTUROUS, get a Meatball/Tuna combo. looks like ass, tastes pretty decent) Buff Chick: is alright how it comes, recommend spice to zest it up. Black Forest Ham: is meh, also basic and doesnt provide much substance. Spice Italian: Not as good as the BMT. Recommend Oil and Vinegar. Tuna: cant really go wrong with this, its decent. (see above about meatball) BMT: Decent sandwich, with oil and vinegar. (would actually recommend swapping Ham for Roast Beef if u can, some subways will do this, some may put up a fight.) Oven Roasted Chicken: Decent sandwich, would recommend spicing it up cause its a bit bland, consider asking for Marinara Sauce on it. Club: Decent sandwich but would use some better flavor. If u want more, try the FEAST (Turkey, Ham, RB, Pep, Sal) Sweet Onion: Decent sandwich, try not to overload it with cuc or tomato, they dont blend well. Recommend alot of lettuce and spinach.

My choice for a sandwich is Italian bread and steak, with pepper jack, onions, bell peppers, spinach, which actually, the spinach is kind of dry so it offsets the wetness, and I either add spicy mustard, or their garlic oil stuff or whatever it is. Sometimes I might add more spinach as well as pepperoncinis. Spice is the only way I found that adds good flavor at subway.

Former subway employee; You can get your veggies toasted! I recommend it for peppers, onions and tomatoes, almost nothing else Lettuce and spinach are frozen in bags! They will be the most watery because of the fact that they were frozen. However all of them, depending on when you go, CAN be watery. It depends on how low in the pan they grab from. Not every location has every bread, cheese, sauce or even main parts. I, being from Ohio, never heard of veggie patty and have seen seafood salad in the menu but never in person. Tuna comes in 'bags' best way I can describe it. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and a few others aren't frozen, but come about once or twice a week depending on your locations truck days. (Ours was Tuesday) Iirc all the meats are frozen when delivered.

My subway pro-tip is the only veggies I get are peppers, olives, or spinach. Every other leafy veggie is overly saturated, but the spinach is pretty good with the oven roasted chicken, some banana peppers, and some olives if you're feeling it. Meatball with provolone on is always a go-to with the add on of either pepperoni or jalapenos or both, and some black olives. I always avoid oil or condiments, and I've always been wary of the bacon, but I might give it a shot sometime. Only rule with the meatballs is they can be a gamble on what condition you catch them in. Their either juicy and fresh, or the burnt side or bottom of the container ones that have been in their touching a hot surface for too long.

The veggie patty sub is my absolute favorite! I get it with extra avocado, olives, red onions, cucumbers, carrots, baby spinach leaves, pickles salt and pepper. All veggies are doubled on rye bread and it is soo good!! 🤤🤤❤

I don't go to Subway that often but when i do i only get one of two sandwiches. Either the Meatball Marinara with peppers & jalapenos, or the Subway Melt with cucumber, peppers & onions. Both always toasted with cheese & southwest sauce and on the italian herb & cheese bread. The bread will cut the roof of your mouth but it's a small price to pay.

I don't think I've ever had a Subway sandwich that wasn't toasted. This might be why I've never had a problem with my sandwiches being too watery, despite always loading them with a bunch of veggies.

As someone who actually likes subway, this video reminded me of just how many sandwiches they have that I don't enjoy at all. The ones I do get are usually pretty good though.

Can say from experience if your ever in a super small town or you have to pick between McDonald's, pizza hut,subway or whatever snack items you could find in a dollar general for every meal for a month. pick subway you'll actually feel like you ate something fresh and it won't overload you with grease to the point of nausea and headaches (also they have semi-fresh veggies)

Thanks for suffering through all of these to find the best Subway sandwiches for us, even though you really don't like them. Meatball marinara and the one chicken one (even though it is very sponge-y) are probably my next favorites (even though I'm not even really big on them, since I don't really care for Subway), since they got rid of the aforementioned roast beef. LOL And this series of you trying out a lot of different foods means a lot to me too (and I'm sure a lot of your other fans), so you're definitely not alone.

When I was studying in Okinawa I went to Subway a few times. It was waaaaaay fresher lol and they offered potato wedges (western fries) instead of chips. It was smaller, but that food smacked. 😋

My main go to for Sbubby is the meatball on toasted italian herb and cheese with pepperjack, spinach, olives, and chipotle mayo OR creamy sriracha, depending on how much heat I'm in the mood for. it can be a little sloppy if they're a little liberal with the marinara, but the taste is primo. Some of my local locations carry prosciutto, and in the case that they do I go with that on toasted italian, with pepperjack and swiss, lettuce, pickles, and olives.

i work at subway and eat there every day, and personally i really like it, but that's genuinely because i really like bland food. i get turkey with shredded cheddar, and it's my favorite thing there. but sungwon is 100% right, it's very bland, and oddly sopping wet. ive noticed that way more now that i eat it all the time, and he captured that perfectly. a suggestion of flavor from the watery sauce no matter how much you drown your sandwich in it, and overwhelming veggies that taste like nothing :/ but i love it! lmao

My favourite is the Black Forest Ham on toasted white bread with mayo, mustard, and cheese (I personally go for cheddar or mozza). It may be basic and extremely white, but it’s hard to go wrong with a sandwich like that.

As an ex-subway employee, I have found the best sandwich to be monaray cheddar bread (never said I could spell the ingredients lol, white bread works as a replacement), steak strips with provolone, then onions before it gets toasted. After the toaster, a little bit of lettuce, 2 lines of garlic aioli (mayo works well as a replacement if they do not have aioli) as well as 1 line of the subway vinaigrette. It is then finished with some of the subway seasoning. Best sandwich I ever had
