Did a comparison on pry bars that I own I did buy the made in china Sunex set for this test as this set I would consider a cheap pry bar and I used that as a base line I'm not in a habit of breaking tools let alone to do that on purpose. But at the end of all this I was a little disappointed in the Snap-on not even making it up to 180 ftlbs of torque before bending and surprised about the Milwaukee and the Mayhew I personally swear by them USA company with quality product and I understand that in the real world you probably never put that much torque on it. I can honesty say that I did have fun making this video and I hope you like it too

Snap on deliberately designs the shank to bend rather than to suddenly fracture which may result in an injury. Warranty-ing 100 of these pry bars is much cheaper than a law suit. You will notice Snap shanks are thinner, this allows them access to areas where the fatter ones don't fit. And it does make a difference if you are working on multilink suspensions when there's not a lot of clearance to begin with. They are still strong enough to get whatever job you are doing done in my opinion. I must say though, I do have the Mayhew bar and I use it more than the snap on. It feels more right to me when I just need to pry on something like when my mother-in-law gets stuck to the couch again.

Every company designs their pry bars to bend not break. If the Mayhew had been bent far enough it wouldn't have sprung back like it did.

In what world would an incredibly minor difference in shank size allow you to pry something off that you couldn’t otherwise? If space is a concern then most likely the angle you get at it or the length of the pry bar would have a much bigger effect. To me the thinner shank is just an excuse to cut costs while only being slightly better than other brands despite being 2-3 time the price.

They're all decent prybars. Really comes down to grip preference and tip angle preference. If you need to put a cheater on a prybar to get the job done, you should be reaching for a bigger prybar in the first place. It's an interesting test but i still would not hesitate to buy the sunex or snapon.

At the last garage I worked at they had a demolition pry bar (the kind they use in railroad industry)for when things got scary hairy. My old snap-on black handle probably is way stronger than the newer snap-on pry bars. Here's one for the books: The hyper tough pry bars at Walmart have not let me down once. Just stay away from the ones from harbor freight that are made in India. after getting one warrantied out three times I left the last one at my uncle's house and is there right now

This test is only a relative comparison. Since a torque wrench reading is from the center of the handle to the anval, any thing after that is multiplied leverage unmesseured by the torque wrench so the reading of 170 foot pounds could have actually been more like 600 foot pounds for all we know.
