Love to have a small rig in my gaming room as it's small room looks cool mate

am clark77 Thanks for the compliment. Without the rear wing (about 18” long) the rig is only about 6’ long by about 3’ wide, so it’s not too big. And the front part (nose cone w/steering wheel and pedals) separates from the seating area of the cockpit. There are some good plans out there for even smaller cockpits you can build at home.

R-VR Closet Thanks, I’m glad you like it. It was a fun build, and I’m looking forward to making some modifications to the design to customize it to my specifications. I learned quite a bit on how to use a router and spray gun while painting it. Luckily MDF is pretty cheap! Lol.

Prateek Patankar I’m an American, are you saying that the world DOESN’T revolve around us?!? Lol. I’m glad you like it. I recently added an articulating monitor mount directly behind the steering wheel base. Having the monitor 18 inches, oops...I mean 45.72 centimeters from my eyes makes the FOV much more realistic. Right now I’m building a motorcycle for drag racing, but this winter I’m going to build a sim rig that resembles Jim Clark’s F1 Lotus.

Looks great...what did you use for painting your rig?

Great Rig!! How do I get the plans? plus do you play online much?
@steveclark52064 жыл бұрын
BUNDY0006 Hi. I found the plans on a home built sim rig website called “The Way I Play” (I think it closed down). It had tons of rigs people built, and a Russian guy had the plans for sale. It was a one time open/print file. I took the file to an architectural plans printer so they could print me full sized templates. I stupidly taped them to the MDF and ruined them. I wish I had traced them onto sheets of cardboard so I could have reused them...Live and learn. I tried contacting the guy to buy another set but I can’t find him now. I think it’s a replica of a Bernax or Hyper Stimulator rig, so maybe he’s trying to avoid copy-write issues. These guys have some interesting plans in wood or 80/20 aluminum and some combination of wood & metal. opensimracing.com/collections/plans And I race in a PS4 league every Monday night on Project Cars 2, and I play a lot of F1, DiRT Rally 1&2, Firewall Zero Hour, and R6: Siege. Hit me up if you want to race. PSN: GUTTER-BOY

PARTS LIST OF EQUIPMENT: Be sure to shop around because you can sometimes find better pricing. In the States, B&H Photo usually has good holiday sales. Seat/Rig: I bought the digital plans for my F1 rig online from a guy in Russia, and I can’t find him again. But here is a company that has wood, aluminum and combination wood/metal rig plans. opensimracing.com/collections/plans Button box (mine is an older model, but he has Basic and Advanced models now): www.ignitioncontrols.com/category-s/147.htm Steering Wheel: mobile.thrustmaster.com/node/6640 Pedals (I put actual racing pedal covers on mine): mobile.thrustmaster.com/en_US/products/t3pa-add RS Dash telemetry software for my iPad and iPhone: www.pocketplayground.net/rs-dash Shifter: mobile.thrustmaster.com/node/6100 Shifter mod that makes it feel like a real gear shifter: www.ricmotech.com/Ricmotech_Realistic_Shifter_Mod2_for_TH8A_p/rmt-tmrsm.htm Shifter short throw mod: www.ricmotech.com/Short_Throw_Shift_Kit_for_the_Thrustmaster_Shifter_p/rmt-tmss.htm GT Omega TV stand: www.gtomega.com/products/art-simulator-monitor-stand Flexible iPad and iPhone holders: www.easyacc.com/en/804-easyacc-flexible-phone-and-tablet-stand-701948726587.html

the button box how work in ps4?
@monkeybase014 жыл бұрын
Is it hard to make a button box work for your steering wheel on ps4?
@steveclark52064 жыл бұрын
Monkey Base No problem, as long as the game supports a keyboard (Project Cars and F1 do). That’s basically all a button box is: a different shaped keyboard. Instead of assigning functions like lights, wipers, etc. onto buttons on the steering wheel you just assign the function to your button box or a keyboard. Get a usb plug in number pad for a few $€£ and you can use that too.

Hey, cool sim. How much did the build cost?
@steveclark52064 жыл бұрын
Samuel Baraka For the MDF, fasteners, paint, seat pads and decals about $350. I had some of the supplies on hand, so it’s difficult to put a hard number to it. But $350 is probably pretty close. The PS4, TV, cables, steering wheel & pedals probably brought it up to about $1,100 how you see it (finished rig and the gaming hardware).

@@steveclark5206 One more. How sturdy are MDF rigs? Can they be used in a commercial setting?
@steveclark52064 жыл бұрын
Samuel Baraka It’s pretty sturdy. I’m 5’10 200 pounds and I haven’t caused any of the panels to loosen getting in and out of it. In a commercial setting though people tend to be less cautious since its not their rig. When my friends use it they tend to want to grab onto the wheel to help get into and out of the rig (instead of the side edges of the cockpit) which of course isn’t good. I added a hinge point so the wheel deck can be lifted up and tilted forward to create more room to maneuver in and out of it. If you added some extra “L” brackets it would definitely help structural stability. To be honest though, if I was going to have a sim racing shop, I’d use these F1 rigs for “advanced” racers and use either 80/20 aluminum rigs or Playseat Evolution rigs for younger or casual racers. If you look at my other videos you’ll see a Evolution that I modified before I built this F1 rig.
