why even console anymore, people nowadays are blinded by sONY and its hubris. If one gets a pc, in this day and age most pc hardware is more than capable of running almost all of the triple a titles and the cost ranges to about $1000 usd on top of this the ps4 and the xbox 1 (not those fancy upgraded versions) are running on years old hardware which is about mid range because of how much you need to pay. In the end for a console you pay $400-500 for, plus if you want to play online games, which by the way is literally PAYING TO USE YOUR OWN WIFI THAT YOU ALREADY PAY FOR, which adds up fast within a year and on top of that the cost of games, extra peripherals, new controllers ect. By buying into the next console you lose more money for a tired out consumerist concept of '''buy new product because shiny"". The argument with ''But i don't have enough room for a pc" is most of the time stupid because if you have space for a console and a tv as well as all the wiring and cables as well as a stand for the tv and disk storage then you most certainly have enough space for a pc if you manage it right. Another thing is that by buying an up to date modern pc, you ensure that you can run all of the following console titles because they have to be made for consoles to run on aging hardware. If the console can run it in 5 years then the pc that had hardware from that time can run it. ok so this here essay was kinda bruh but i just wanted to say that consoles are good for party games and the illusion of being cheaper. This is why the Nintendo wiii and the Nintendo switch are good. They do not have a particularly high price in terms of consoles and other hardware and they come with fun features. Microsoft already has an in house 360 and Xbox OG emulators that run on the Xbox ones that how they are able to do their backwards compatibility. And even though not every game is supported what is currently is supported works really well. And on the emulation community side of things emulating Sony and Nintendo consoles is a lot easier to do and works fairly well compared to emulating the Original Xbox and 360. But that's a whole other story.

Especially when next fall it will be on sale for a Black Friday discount so there isn't much point for it right now.

I'm still trying to get through the entire PS4 library right now haha, gonna be at least a year till I think of upgrading haha

My controller started acting weird a few months after getting my xbox. I just went to a 3rd party controller that felt OK and never looked back. They last a year or two but cost about £25 so meh. I prefer a wired connection anyway

I started waiting 2 years to buy the console starting with the PS4. Bought it in 2015 and ignored the initial hype, now I plan on buying a PS4 (or xbox because sony pissed me off with that GTA V teaser) in two years

I wouldn't go that far because you miss out on the golden era of games and multiplayer is dead but it's generally a good idea to wait a few years until the games being made for the new gen are reaching their technical potential and the console itself is cheaper. Like Phil Spencer saying "it's the best time to buy an xb1" was in 2017

I feel like at that point you may as well buy a PC and play all games past, present, and future on one system. There's only a handful of exclusives, and lately even those are being ported since it doesn't sell to the "competition."

I honestly believe consoles could become a thing of the past by the end of this generation, since everything is cloud based now anyway, and Xbox and Playstation already offer a monthly subscription for PC. I would miss having a physical console, but it would be nice to not have to spend hundreds of dollars on something, when I could just stream to a PC or other device. Most consumers only pick one console anyway, so if a streaming service was available, everyone would be doubling their consumer base. I suspect that's also why this gen is much more exclusive driven, since everyone wants to make sure the have enough exclusives to have a thriving subscription based service, and don't have to worry about third party games leaving, which keeps happening to Netflix.

A PC with specs equal to a console can be 1000 or more dollars, and once you go past that amount, the differences in specs are things that most people wouldn't notice or care about. As far as a selection of games, most games on PC are either available on a mid range PC with downgraded performance, or available on console, so I'm not really missing much by having a mid range PC and console, which cost about as much a single gaming console.
