People usually cite PSA's pro-2A marketing as to why they deserve more forgiveness but if anything I think there's something nobody talks about: PSA could improve their QC with all the profits they make off selling them so cheap but instead they create new product lines. New product lines that need new techniques, new tooling, and new QC training to execute properly. And this is all while they have issues with their current line. As much as I love seeing new alternatives to ARs you shouldn't be stretching your resources that far when you still need to improve QC on your base line. Their ambition is only hurting them because it's beyond their actual means.

As someone who’s done QC in manufacturing I can tell you I don’t really care if the thing I’m looking at works or not, that’s not my job, it’s an engineer’s job. My job is to ensure the parts I’m looking at follow the specs in the blueprint. If everything is following the print and the end product doesn’t work, then that’s a problem from square one, not QC.
@FocusTripp

@@FocusTripp is it really that hard to believe PSA just uses bad specs on their blueprints? I have a PSA lower that will not drop gen 3 magpul magazines. That means one of two things is true. Either my lower is a dud that made it through QC somehow, or that their tolerances are so wide that you really don’t know what you’re getting when you buy a PSA. I’m willing to bet it’s the later.
@hunterkiller232134
@hunterkiller232134 2 ай бұрын
@@harukiri2738more likely the blue print is fine but the machinery needs maintenance or tooling needs replaced and they probably arent checking every unit shipped Also magpul is known to have tolerances everywhere. It isnt uncommon for certain batches of PMAGs to not be drop free in certain lowers. This was true of BCM lowers at one point. So if you have some mags on the wider end of tolerance and a lower on the tighter end, you get two products that dont want to work together

I work in manufacturing of scientific instruments, which require constant QC checks and testing. It IS my job, and everyone else’s throughout the manufacturing process to make sure the parts work, not just the engineers. This also involves tools and fixtures are within spec and properly trained people capable of maintaining QC. PSA clearly values selling quantity over quality and deserves the reputation of putting out inferior products.
@harukiri2738
@harukiri2738 2 ай бұрын
@@wisco_guy no it isn’t. I doubt you’ve worked in manufacturing if what I said didn’t make sense to you. You are not at work to ensure the end product of anything actually works as the consumer intends, you’re there to ensure it is made to the specifications on the print. It literally isn’t PSA QC’s job to ensure the gun works in the end, just that the gun follows the print, that’s how all manufacturing is. If that doesn’t make sense to you, you obviously have never worked in manufacturing. If a gun blows up and kills the user the only real legal leg the worker has to stand on is the fact they followed the blueprint. The blueprint as dictated by who? PSA engineers. Duh

With the QC, thing, it's fine if a PSA isn't as solid as a KAC, but, it's more expensive to manufacture 2 crappy parts, then to make 1 decent one...let alone having to pay to ship the gun back, and pay people to look it over, fix it, test it, etc. I'm a PSA fan, but I refuse to make stupid excuses like that for them... That's how you end up with Sig. I don't want overpriced engineering samples that take 4 generations to be decent. PSA should slow down the innovation, and tighten up QC. As for the AAC/Sabre ammo... I built a Mk12 (Mock 12 because it doesn't have all the clone correct parts but I don't care) and been doing some ammo testing lately. A lot of the ammo has been AAC because of the price. Obviously if you find a cheap yet capable ammo for a precision rifle, you're in heaven. No one really wants to go to the range and shoot entire dollar bills out of their gun all afternoon. Shockingly, the Sabre 55gr FMJ has been performing exceptionally well through the 16" 1/7 barrel, producing 0.5" groups. That's excellent for my wallet and range time, and gives me a cheap yet capable round to stockpile. But no 55gr FMJ is going to have the effect on target at longer ranges that's really needed. So I tested out a dozen other AAC ammos from both their AAC and Sabre lines... The 77gr OTM do okay-ish with 1-1.5" groups (inconsistency bothers me), but when the barrel heats up they spread out too much. The other 77gr options performed about the same. The temperature of the barrel didn't seem to have much effect with the 55gr rounds. The 75gr, 69gr and a few others performed horribly. I'm going this weekend again to use Black Hills 77gr OTM Mk262 as the standard by which the others will be judged. I'm going to remove even more outside variables, and try to be even more fair to each round after I switch, and take longer breaks between firing iterations. But we'll see. So far the 55gr FMJ is the bee's knees. But that's all. The 77gr OTM for approximately $0.60ea may become a stockpile ammo for my short barreled carbines, though.

AAC 5.56 ammo seems to be fairly inconsistent in performance. I've seen a guy get a better grouping with their 77gr OTM than with the Black Hills out of the same rifle. At that point, your gun really needs to like the case dimensions/powder/bullet combo of any brand you buy (until you get into reloading which is NOT recommended for anybody who wants another hobby outside of precision or competition shooting XD.)

I feel a lot of people become very complacent with the income of fame, money, subscribers or attention. PSA is great and they have ingenuity and creativity. Very productive. But the QC issues here and there need tightened up. Hopefully those things aren’t getting to their heads and getting complacent. I still enjoy the company and their effort to arm every US Citizen with a decent rifle to protect their families and country. You have to respect them for that.

I get being unacceptable that they had this issue. I’m not in this type of industry so I am curious, when is it ok to contact a company about a lemon issue before blasting them on their product? How do you walk that line of being honest but still being fair? I’ve seen some people contact the company under a pseudonym to see if their customer service is actually helpful and responsive, and then you have even more info about the company. It seems like immediately dropping him was a retaliatory immature move. (Not trying to attack focus trip or PSA, I own 0 PSA stuff and have never bought from them).

I don't concern myself with being "fair" to a 100 million dollar company that essentially stole $1300 from a customer expecting a functioning product. Other people have gone through their CS system and reviewed it with middling results. I don't usually do that on my channel. If I was talking about a much cheaper item or from a smaller company I wouldn't probably go as hard if that makes sense. I just got a $3500 rifle from another company and if it had the same issue, I would go even harder.

I’ve had MANY PSA products. 8 firearms and 2 BCGs I only had 1 that needed customer service. Even that wasn’t a huge deal because the upper did work. So every thing works as advertised no issues at all for years with the exception of the one upper. The specific issue was the gas port on the barrel was oversized and the upper was significantly overgassed. It did function reliably but it did recoil hard and kick out brass at about 1:30 position. Slapped a new barrel in there and good to go. Now are they as nice as my more expensive guns? No but they are absolutely functional and literally no malfunctions from mine other than those I set up for training. I did have to tune a 300 black with adjustable gas block for subsonic ammunition but I expected that when I bought it.

So let’s say I was gonna do a review on a Psa product. And I am an affiliate for them. If I was directly paid for a “review” I would personally call that a demonstration and then say “this video is a paid demonstration so keep that in mind” If I was NOT directly paid for the review but got the gun for free and am an affiliate: I would disclose my relationship and how I got the gun. Then I would also say that I do have affiliate links I post on other sites. I usually in those cases tell people to take the review more as a demonstration in a case like that since even if I shit on it a bit and am fair the audience deserves to know my relationship so they can take that into consideration. And those would be examples of what I feel covers both the legal requirements and the moral requirements to make the audience aware of relationships and how that may impact the perspective I hold regardless of me being super critical of them.

I've been watching your videos for several years now and I actually appreciate the honesty and your videos. I know that you're going to be giving us the best review you can. Which is sad to see what palmetto State armory is doing because one of their products was out of spec. But if you would like to read I've got a personal experience with palmetto State armory. I ordered a 10 and a half inch upper pistol kit back in 2019 at a wonderful price. And when I got it and put it together the upper was significantly out of spec. It turned out that the gas tube was misaligned in a pretty serious manner that caused the charging handle to press down on the bolt carrier group as you were racking it back. I would have to mortar it in order to get the bolt carrier group all the way back. I sent it back to palmetto State armory and they shipped it back without touching it, it sat in their factory according to the shipping logs for less than 24 hours before they had it back on a truck and being shipped back to me. Stating they found no issues with the upper. So I took a video and then I took some pictures of the charging handle having a significant amount of metal shaved off the top of it because it was so misaligned it was causing the metal to rub straight off. I sent those pictures to the customer service rep who had originally had spoken to, and he asked for me to send the upper back to him. I went ahead and fixed it myself it wasn't a big deal replace the charging handle but there are still significant gouges in my upper. Now since then it has been 100%, and even then it would shoot it just caused metal shavings. But it has thus far been the last palmetto State armory upper I've bought. I've owned four of their uppers and it was the only one out of spec, but their customer service just shipping it back to me that very next day without actually appearing to check the upper at all was a pretty big warning sign for me.
