I drove for Prime as well as a solo driver. Sure there are wait times from time to time. I arrived at a shipper recently the day before appointment because they had overnight parking. I went in to see what the earliest I could check in the next day. That same night they knocked on my door and asked if I wanted to get loaded right then. It’s all about professional communication with there shippers and receivers in my eyes.

I left Prime a month ago to come over to J.B. Hunt. I worked at Prime for just over 4 years and rarely spoke with my FM. I ran the way he suggested and made good money. However, working MYSELF off of a load board has been the best thing I’ve ever done. It’s not a great week one week and then the next week is horrible. It’s been consistent 5k gross to the truck per week. Why? Because I run how and what I want to run and I’ve been home every weekend. I’m not sitting waiting for sales to tell me there are no loads or to dh 300 miles for a load. I will say that all the things I learned at Prime as a student and as a trainer has really come in handy over here. There is a lot more freight over here AND there is no cap to what I can make. It’s what I want to make each week.

Yeah, the ones who want to stay local or on a dedicated route are hurting because they limit themselves. In this market, it’s about being flexible. Also, drivers are still expecting COVID rates and get mad or butt hurt because they have to run a load at 2.50 a mile. Just having control on a load board has made a huge difference in the consistency of my pay each week.

I just paid my truck off in Nov, so I got lucky on timing. This is my million mile year, and never had a service failure or claim. But this camera thing does have me thinking about other opportunities, but not until the market turns positive. I like being rational not emotional in my decisions.

As we deadhead from Ohio to California as a team. 11 years here, that was only the second time, ever, and the first time was at the end of January. This is the worst I’ve ever seen it. Like Dusty Rhodes said, hard times.

I stopped hauling reffers because the delivery times and pick up times the dry van freight may pay horrible in certain areas but atleast u can find freight when you’re empty

Ive been putting up numbers with a trainee. Wait times and dh are crazy right now. Might have a 3k miles load that takes 5 days as a training truck running as a ream truck and the other 2 days will start setting up the next week

They just say that cause the attention span of people is a few seconds, so they get to avoid topics like a solution to problems in the industry like parking, that they never touch on. And when someone starts asking too many questions, it’s “there’s a driver shortage” and everyone forgets what they were talking about and move on

When it slows down like this you need to stay out longer. You can’t be home every 4 to 5 weeks. I’m doing fine but that’s because I stay out longer & I don’t stay home as long. I used to stay home for 2 weeks but now I stay home a week.

I did and regret it. Don't go into flatbedding as a company driver. They will charge you 5k for the license and about 6k for the securement equipment. No company driver should pay for equipment. Plus you just don't make that much money flatbedding at Prime. 👎

Due to covid and freight rates and demand skyrocketing we have so many people getting into this industry as an O/O or as company driver and we are flooding the availability of drivers,we now have major inflation,low supply and high availability of drivers,low rates and longer load/unload times the cleanse is ending alot of these new drivers careers,this market will pick back up again and itll repeat

People are leaving Prime because it sucks. Pretty simple. Having fancy gyms at the terminals doesn't pay my bills. I left for a dedicated job at another mega carrier and couldn't be happier.
