In this video I replace the front wheel bearing and brakes on a 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser. It is a press in bearing but overall a pretty easy job to do. -Enjoy!

Wow, that was a different take on an SMA bearing replacement... Usually it requires 14 different kinds of penetrating oil, a torch, Big Nasty, a few breaker bars, a sledgehammer, several drifts, two assistants, an angle grinder, a Sawzall, and several carefully edited choice words to get the job done. Keep up the great videos!

Im up in central ny and once in a while we get lucky but not to often. I just did a rear wheel bearing on a 2015 suby impreza today and i had torches big nasty and my little snappy ph3050b trying to get one air hammer wedged in behind then giving it the beans with big nasty also heated it cherry red about 10 times. It was one of the worst ones ive had in a while. Not fun at all. Especially when u see guys down south just give them a light tap with a small dead blow. Lol

@@dylankinch2735 Having seen Eric's channel for a few years now, I know that even a 3-5 YO car can require Big Nasty, just o remove the bolts at bare minimum. :-) Thus, my comment that this car was originally not from here and not here long enough to develop the crusties.

Long time ago I worked for a Monro muffller and brake shop as a rookie. Did pads and rotors on all four wheels. Did not pump the brakes. Backed out, and frantically pumped them, lucky there were no cars parked behind me, and went up over the curb. Customer watched the whole thing. PUMP YOUR BRAKES! Learned a nice lesson that day, I always pump them now, and have flashbacks when I back out of my garage when done a brake job.

Bought an 02 PT Touring, new. What a piece! It ate brakes, tires and clutches. Headlight multi switch died. About 48 k started using oil. Turns out it was a known issue. Chrysler solution was telling you oil consumption of 1 qt per 500 miles was acceptable! My numerous Nissans used 0 in 3k! My mechanic buddy told me the cure was pulling the pistons, throwing them in the trash because the oil rings would be coked solid. That solution was good for another 40k or so. Changed to 15/40 oil which reduced consumption to 1 1/2 quarts in 3k. Drove till 100k and got rid of it.

Live in the UK and I f?! *Ing hate pt cruisers, got a shock of a dodgy plug wire on one and got a dodgy foot from another! Don't envy you dude, every one I've worked on stuff NEVER works out that easy. Keep up the excellent work, nice to see another pro at work 😁

I love this video. Well done, Eric. I almost got lost when you turned right instead of left. Woah! Then you turned left and I knew where we were. Whew. And nothing went wrong. Must be an import from the South where salt is only used in the kitchen. Thanks for taking us along Eric. Love your videos.

It was good hear it called a split pin! Here in the UK a cotter pin is something very different used to hold a pedal on a bicycle crank.

I was waiting for something to go sideways, figuring maybe some other shop loosened all the hardware and bolts but couldn't get the bearing out so the owner passed it on to you. Must be a nice to fix cars south of the rust belt... Good and instructional, as always. Thanks, Eric!

Done plenty of those bearing races at home. Slot it at a diagonal with a dremel and cutting disc, then whack it with a chisel to fracture it. Takes a few minutes, but not a deal breaker for the DIY'er by any means.

It’s going to be time to replace my front hub bearing assembly soon. I need to get one of those sliding hammers. I borrowed one when I did my wife’s car. “Easy peasy”. When I did my rear bearings, I only had a hammer, a punch and swearing.
