THIS BELONGS AT THE TOP ! I am glad that you give this extremely exceptional Nordic group a chance. I tell you a little about its history. The group, which are two boys and one girl, have Norwegian, Danish and German nationality and uses instruments such as horns of different animals, drums, human bones, rattles with human ashes, bells, stones, all to go back to the first musical compositions that They were able to interpret 10,000 years ago, in the iron age in northern Europe. All the letters are taken from carved gadgets from the era of the Nordic iron, such as arrowheads, bows, swords, rune stones and recite poems and psalms of war, peace and protection. Whereupon and for this, heilung, which means healing in German, is in close collaboration with archaeologists specializing in the field. The languages used by heilung are several. Among them are Latin, Old Danish, German and English. They were so successful with their first album that they had to release a new live album, which includes 2 new songs. Also a video of that album live and this year they released their second work, futha, which is a much more feminine work. His first album, Ofnir, is much more aggressive and masculine. During the concerts some representations of how these ancient rituals of the iron age could be made. Also just finished the soundtrack of the video game Hellblade 2. I hope this review helps you to understand a bit the context of this musical group. I recommend this video of her concert.

Antlers are a very ancient symbol. For millennia, shamanic cultures have used antlers in ritualistic forms as a way to symbolize man's connection to nature and all of the beasts around them. An example of this is the Mesolithic site of Star Carr, where 21 deer skull headdresses were discovered, dating from 9,000 BC. It is a common motif in many pieces of ancient artwork such as "The Sorcerer", a painting of a humanoid torso with animalistic features including antlers, located in a cave in France and dated to 13,000 BC.

Those were musrooms they were eating actually. Commonly used in rituals like that. And that WAS a ritual you watched my friend.😁 If you want a similar but slightly more modern style of music like that you should check out the band Wardruna, and for a more folksy type of sound check out the band Faun, i highly recommend their song Walpurgisnacht!

I dont understand why, foreigners, go crazy about this..Scandinavians understand this naturally..we can almost sing along...if we listen..it is not viking, its prehistoric, more like bronce age, iron age..you could imagine the shaman performing theese rituals in the dead of nordic winters...long and dark..fertillity symbols, aka the antlers, the chanting..and so on

I cannot exactly answer why they are using antlers, but as a German blacksmith I can tell that antlers have an extremely long tradition to be used for tools and craftsmanship in general. Deers were always super common here and since they throw off their antlers every year it wouldn't surprise me at all if this abundant and super useful natural material had a big influence on any early culture around.

its called amplified History. Maria is from Denmark, the other two are from Germany and Sweden, i think. They translated runes, which were found around middle Europe, more or less from the the late stone age to early Iron age Because no one knows how to pronounce the words on the runes, maria just came with the idea of singing in her mother language Danish and keeping the pronounciation of the runes. Most likely every song has a meaning, based on the rune. for example the title of the album: The majority of full rune set inscriptions start with ‘Futha’, and is known to us as the first four letters in all runic alphabets.

I can imagine this is EXACTLY the sounds made by pre-Christian Norse shaman, priests and warriors........love the rune stones!......does anyone know who makes their drums and what skins they use? thanks in advance......also, I think most of the pipes they play are bone, antler or birch........reminds me of "pan flute"........Maria is a pagan shaman with the voice of the gods..........

"Heilung" is German for "Cure." "Norupo" is based upon an ancient Norse rune poem: www.ragweedforge.com/RunNRPe.html They use their bodies to form many of the runes they speak of in the video. :) History. It's weird. You probably wouldn't understand "Heilung" to begin with. ;) Kai Uwe Faust's Throat Singing is derived from ancient European cultures, who originated on The Steppes, long before the Huns and Mongols showed up. By that time, most Indo-Europeans had moved on to better lands. ;) The group has several additional vocalists, both male and female, not shown in the vid. Edit: Check out my "Moto" playlist for similar examples.

Your are listening to a song named Norupo which is a 17 century copy of a 13th century manuscript (sadly the original version is lost ) it’s in Old Norwegian the poem itself is about the names of the Norse younger Futhark runes a alphabet to write their language Old Norse. Please don’t use the word Viking use Norse instead. Viking means raider nothing else. The headress the man wears is based off of a headress worn by a Mesolithic (middle Stone Age) woman and inspiration from headdresses worn by Evensk shamans in Siberia. The woman headress is based off of Siberian shamans with Celtic knot work art in the front.
