Toyota tech here, only thing I would change is the front safety strap location. I typically run around lift arm and hooked into holes in unibody stub frame that have body plugs in them. Cool to see one out though. Good choices in parts. I can't wait for my Scion tC's to be done so I take this on with my Corolla also. Looking forward to good power!!

It’s been fun watching these videos. I have a GR Corolla also and I work for Toyota. This video was particularly interesting because I work on an assembly line were I assemble heads all day long. All the parts that you took off, I work with every day. Pretty cool to see the disassembly. Keep up the good work.

There’s a set screw in that black bracket so you can either unbolt the bracket or undo the set screw

@NemtecRacing thank you for the reply! I have tried the set screw removal with the spring and then unbolting the bracket to no avail with a 40oz hammer that really packs a punch. Tried following alldata but they suggested the same steps. Not much of a great are to swing either. Very surprised with it only have 14k miles!

Do you have a service manual with all the torque specs. I've done what you've done in the video plenty of times, but not without at minimum the torque specs... which I'm guessing the answer has to be yes.

It's really too bad the valvesprings weren't up to task. The valvesprings were actually upgraded from the gr yaris to the gr corolla... must have been just enough for that extra 40whp stock... pretty much nothing.

@@NemtecRacing for example at 14:55 you pointed at the direct injectors then pointed at the port injectors, if you could show us those parts more clearly as well as explain/show how it fits onto the manifold. Then speak on there operation. 👍

@@MrSqeeky1000 yeah totally maybe when we put the motor back together we can show that!!!
@copperkeyracing6167
@copperkeyracing6167 9 ай бұрын
@MrSqeeky1000 generally speaking, direct injectors are under the intake manifold spraying directly into the block, peaking through just below the valves, through the head. Port injectors are sitting above the intake manifold, spraying through the manifold and into the ports, which spray directly above the valves. Port injectors do the difficult task of keeping the very important valves from getting buildup and washing it through and out of the combustion chamber. On the G16E, the direct injectors are for when you are full throttle, and the port injectors are for idle and part throttle. Once tuning and more hp comes in, then the direct injectors will not be able to keep up, and therefore larger port injectors need to be swapped in, and then the port injectors handle the full throttle when the direct injectors are nearly maxxed out... but, I'm sure nemtec will explain all this for us with video.😅
@copperkeyracing6167
@copperkeyracing6167 9 ай бұрын
Speaking off... I'm in shock there was so much buildup on those very low mileage pistons. Time to break out the seafoam on a regular basis, regardless of the port injectors being present.

Regardless of how much power the engine can make; which isn’t really all that much, the transmission is fragile and the weak link, followed by the Highlander parts bin PTU rear differential. GRC is a toy.

@@NemtecRacingyes. Had Core vin 2135. Did lots of research on the topics, put out the VB43 info very early on, even got in touch with IHI about compressor charts. Lots of evidence of weak trans 5th gear synchro rings, causing catostrophic Trans failure. Personal observations of the GRC after having many performance cars was boosty heat soak prone engine, uncomfortable seats with stupid headrest placement, ZERO effort for weight savings from Toyota vs pretty existence efforts on GRY. I beta tested the Syvecs AWD unit and assisted in GRC calibration for US distribution. Was very disappointed in the GRC overall. It needs a bigger center differential fluid capacity, and in fact would benefit a lot more from a Torsen center differential than a silly E-diff parts bin unit. The final straw was when I had horrific wheel hop in wet weather before it decided to add power to the rear. Just not for me, but it was fun on cool days on backroads, but ultimately could not get the car to be actually fun and able to rotate even at 100% duty cycle without pushing it to the absolute limit on the street or track. Best left stock or OEM + in my humble opinion.

Pretty basic. He removed a subframe with the steering rack still attached. Then, he looked in, drew an imaginery circle of what he wanted out, and then disconnected everything. He left the turbo on, downpipe on, harness, transmission, intake manifold & throttlebody. He did mention that he removed the knuckles and front suspension and brakes below, and attached, to the knuckles... always leave the calipers connected to the car, though, so you don't have to go back and bleed the brakes.
