Thanks for the upload man. I just tried a Samsung 40T in my Pulse 80w and it fits perfectly without any modification, slight raised height on the squonk panel/door. I just added some Blutack to the bottom left corner next to the squonk bottle inside the mod and along the side of the right corner of the door and it has no wobble on the door whatsoever although it's slightly raised now but still flush. Working perfectly in Power mode @ 70w and the battery is cool as a cucumber. Would never have thought it would take a 21700 battery, but it's working perfectly. :) Now to upgrade the firmware to make it 90w.

Morten, thanks once again for the attention. I do, much enjoy the tinkering and sharing the results. I, like you, get asked ‘Why would do this?’ and my best answer is ‘Because I can’. I think it invites curiosity and stirs the brain to ‘think out of the box’, so to speak. For me it is a good “Thing” and maybe in the end it will begat something much better. Thanks Again.

Nice video, Morten! That looks like it was a proper pain in the arse. lol. You're right, every bit matters. I learned that painstakingly when I was messing with pcb guitar pedals and amps and also learning point to point wiring, true bypass, etc.

It must be slightly frustrating for everyone who bought an 80w Pulse that the 21700, 90w Pulse X will be with us soon along with the Pulse X rda. I'm so glad I held off buying the 80w version! Nonetheless I appreciate the lengths you go to in your tutorials Morten :)

Great Video Morten. I know it's not new at all, but I am curious on your thoughts regarding coil placement on the Cosmonaut RDA. Some people say in line barely above the deck other say to pull out closest to airflow. A review if you could somehow find the time would be awesome.

When I modified mine I removed that ledge that's part of the internal back cover. Gives lots of room to set the battery lower. Only need to remove a tiny groove in the front and back panel. I don't believe changing the wire can make any difference even in bypass mode. Bypass mode isn't a genuine bypass. It's a simulation. The board measures the battery voltage and the coil resistance and calculates the power that you would get in a mech. Then it sets that power. While the coding is slightly different in bypass mode the electronics are identical to power mode.

I know you dont like tanks but i would really like your opinion on the intake rta. It seem like it would be cool with flat coils. I have one and im new to building but it seems like it would work well. If you set the coil high for air flow. Between the posts, the tubes going down and the cotton. You can wall off all the sides except for straight up from the bottom. Forcing the air up and around the sides of the coil. Like I said I'm a new to this so I could be way off. Love the videos. I have learned alot. Thank you.

The original Pulse Squank Box can fit a 21700 with a tight fit with no modifications needed and it vapes like a hard hitting mech mod.

I was hoping you would open the box. I'm trying to see where my 510 leaks, and if the juice is getting on the board.

Morton, great (cautious) information here! I must agree with you that all parts of a system affect the system in some way. I MUST believe that the modification of larger wire into the PCB *MUST* (at the very least) reduce the overall system's resistance....therefore lowering its parasitic burden on whatever power source and work are on either end of the system. More efficiency....at the very least, no?

About the wire: Let's assume the battery is discharged to 3V and you want 80W then the current is around 27A. Now we need some energy for a microcontroller and a display and a very efficient Buck/Boost Converter is UP TO 94% efficient (i.E. much less when it has to boost) so let's just round this up to 30A. This means a 4mm^2 wire from the battery to the board! 2.5mm^2 is allowed up to 25A and 1.5mm^2 maxes out at 20A. So much for cost cutting :D A 15cm long 1.5mm^2 copper wire has 0.00178 Ohms, the 2.5mm^2 has 0,001068 and the 4mm°2 has 0.000668. The resistance for a 15cm long copper wire with the following cross-section surface in mm^2: 1.5 => 0.00178 2.5 => 0,001068 4 => 0.000668 Applying Ohms Lawthe voltage drop on those wires should be around: 1.5 => 0.0534 2.5 => 0,0324 4 => 0,02004 Does this make a noticeable difference? At the highest settings I do think it will. If you really have to get the maximum power out of one single battery, you have to have the most efficient wiring and electronics, or no electronics at all. But it might be easier to use a dual battery setup for a power output above 60 Watt so we don't have to change the battery every other hour.

You could use two smaller wires instead of one thicker. The goal is the same, but there is no need to cut window for thicker one. ;)

Im satisfy with my first edition pulse & 80w pulse on 18650 battery, although regulated pulse drain the battery more fast. But what do i know. Nice video sir.

I've had my pulse since released and still use it today with never modify and guess what it still works amazing. I own several vandy vape mods with the vv chip and it's a solid chip. So my question is this, why? What's wrong with running a 20700? It's plenty of battery for this mod! I've run many different ohm loads over all the year's of having this specific mod and it has next to no ramp up this chip fires great. And no I'm not a fan boy of vv but this mod and the swell mod both run the vv chip and are great mods. So why change for a tiny bit of change in capacity makes no sense.

I did it with a dremmel...

All that work and money, then out comes the Pulse X 90 watt with 20700/21700 capabilities.

?? I use 21700's in my Pulse.. It's a tight fit and the door in the front have a 0,5 mm crack on the right side.. I live fine with that, however it might disturb someone.. But when you say it's no way.. Well there is obviously for me..

Man, I just bought the Pulse V2 kit for $40 . And I feel really bad you guys are hacking your mods, should of just waited.
