I love the fact that Little Mac beat him and gave Glass Joe his 100th loss that Joe got the head gear. If you lose 100 matches youre given the head gear as an option

@@randomloser5271 It's not just cosmetic either. It genuinely increases your overall health. The fact you need to lose so many times is rather jarring just to get it, but it is effectively the game's easiest mode being unlocked since you can still progress the game with it equipped.

I noticed that when Aran Ryan bops himself in the face with the rope attack, he doesn't take damage but his portrait shakes like he did. Nifty little detail.

Another detail that's more of built into the game is how when Aran tries to hit you with his rope attack before falling over, but you instead star punch him before he falls, he ends up getting OKed, instant karma.

@@captainbup if I'm correct, the game doesn't allow the enemy fighter from getting knocked down by anything other then the players punch. I think in situations like king hippos manhole falling off, even though it deals damage, it won't knock him down ever.

To be fair, even if it's for health reasons, it's illegal for him to wear the headgear unless Little Mac does too. Then again, the rules of the WVBA is hella wack compared to those of the real life WBA. WVBA's rule set includes: "Make everything look entertaining at all costs, even at the risk of the other boxers, WVBA staff, and onlookers in the stands."

Not only is it a reference to Mike Tyson's Punch-Out on the NES, but the infinite is significantly easier to pull off in his first match where it's just left/right jabs to the face while the pattern is more complicated in Title Defense as you saw.

Fun Facts: 1. In the Title Defense version of Piston Hondo, his signature Hondo Rush has a 4-frame counter window. Landing a counterpunch in the first three frames results in a star; the fourth and final frame is the Instant Knockdown frame. Worth remembering that this game is indeed played at 60 FPS. 2. Every single Star you earn in the Title Defense Version of Bald Bull requires you to be basically frame-perfect. Not to mention that you must land Star Punches in order to even knock Bald Bull down. This actually existed in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, where the rematch against Bald Bull required you to knock him down with a Star Punch. There's a reason why Title Defense Bald Bull is considered the hardest fight in the game. 3. Title Defense Super Macho Man is the only fighter in the Wii version of Punch-Out that does not have an Instant Knockdown. Not sure why.

One thing they changed (kinda) is the fact that intercepting his Bull Rush without a star punch won't make him down to the count (but you can use the star punch you get from that interception as soon as he starts to go forward to his fight stance to make him fall instantly anyway, is just one aditional step, the NES game he still get's down while intercepting the Bull Rush just like the 1st fight).

@@screentimer The fact that the horseshoes didn’t kill Little Mac proves that Little Mac is actually God himself. He has the resilience to survive the punches from Mr. Sandman, who was shown to knock down a brick building bare-knuckle; he has the agility to outmaneuver Piston Hondo, who can outrun a bullet train; and he has the strength to instantly knock down Bald Bull with a Star Punch, who can recoil from a bull’s charge without falling down.

I love when the challenges have something to do with their respective culture such as blocking Piston Hondo's jabs 44 times (the number 4 is unlucky in Japan), defeating Aran Ryan in the 7th minute in the fight (the Irish are considered to be lucky, and the number 7 is also lucky), and one of Great Tiger's Exhibition Challenges involves defeating him with only right jabs (the left hand is considered unclean)

Technically if your left handed that's the unclean hand at first at least the idea is you wipe with your nondominant hand so using your in most cases left hand when handshaking was calling someone akin to poop

Actually, it was a clever way of showing him _disrespecting_ you. Hondo keeps his eyes on you the whole time he bows, which is an extremely backhanded way to insult someone in Japanese tradition. Kinda like shaking someone’s hand and then squeezing their pressure point.

Punch Out Wii is definitely by far the best of the series. It was the revival of Punch Out... as well as the end. And as someone who has played every punchout game, I find Punch Out Wii to be more nostalgic than the NES version for some reason. I mean it's the most cinematic, and this time the characters have way more personality, and you can fight Donkey Kong, another selling point. Title Defense exists, challenges also give the game replay value, and it's a really pretty game even by Wii standards. And has a banger good soundtrack, once again, even by Wii standards. Glad to see it still has a community.

the only fighters who fought within the rules were Glass Joe (both), Piston Hondo (both) Don Flamenco (both) Bear Hugger (contender) Disco Kid (both) Von Kaiser (both) Bald Bull (both) Hippo King (contender) Macho Man (both) and Sandman (both) the disqualifications are Great Tiger for using magic, Title Defense King Hippo for using a non-regulation protector, Aran Ryan for weighting his gloves and using a weapon, Soda Pop for performance enhancing drugs, and Title Defense Bear Hugger for outside help (note, this is only counting DELIBERATE rule violations, for example Glass Joe HAS to wear the headgear because his doctor said he has to)

Glass joe has a head covering. Von Kaiser wears pants below his knees which is not allowed, disco kid has headphones in the corner so he might be getting illegal info and in title defense, there is no ways to know what is a low blow. Hondo has a head covering with his head band.Bear hugger has no distinction of his lower body and his pants are below his knees, he also has a beard,drinks maple syrup and sleeps in the corner, and BRINGS A SQUIRREL TO THE RING.don has a head cover as his toupee and has perfume. bald bull knocks the ref out of the ring and throws a dumbbell in the crowd, super macho man has branded shorts, his necklace and piercings are not allowed,neither are his glasses, and he knocks the ref around. And in title defense, sandman’s top part of his shorts are the same color as the bottom part

I feel so bad for Glass Joe in the 50 jabs challenge His entire schtick is that his jaw can't take a punch, and the challenge is so completely obliterate his face Although you gotta hand it to him, he can take a punch
