She was lucky. I had a boa constrictor prolapse when she was delivering her litter several years ago. (Boas give live birth). Her entire reproductive system had to be removed. About a third of her litter didn't make it. She live another 5 years after the surgery (she was nearly 20 when it happened). (Jan Griffiths).

I can imagine how terrified that girl was, as someone who also struggles with mental illness if my pet got hurt like that I would be having an absolute mental break down. Luckily for me I was trained to do quite a lot of basic things but I also won't keep dogs for multiple reasons I personally find my chinchilla Picchu is the best emotional support animal ever for me, she doesn't make many loud noise which I'm sensitive to (I'm autistic), she's fun to watch and unpredictable so you're never bored (I've ADD) and she's just the sweetest thing will let me hug and even cry on her while I'm having a mental breakdown.(I suffer with severe depression and anxiety) She's been sick once in her life and that one time I got praise from my vet for catching a respiratory infection incredibly early.

you don't work with dogs I see... my tip for you is to stop thinking like a human when it comes to dogs. - I tell you this with a direct translation to how any dog sees this situation. giving a "weak human", a human with mental issues to a dog that, any dog, is not a smart or logical thing to do. Jimmy didn't attack the other dog out of nowhere, most likely it felt the neighbors dog as an enemy to his pack. In this case like most others, the dog is the owner, the leader, the king, and these weak humans is only a part of his/her pack. So the owner in this case, is the reason this dog got hurt. I work with dogs, I get paid to rehabilitate dogs like this Jimmy... People in the west need to stop joke around when it comes to "unfit" people getting a dog. You see the results, they aren't nice. Letting an "unfit" person own a dog, is animal cruelty at it's worst, it's worst because people don't take it seriously and dogs get killed as a result. You make a joke about it without understanding is not ok. This behavior is pure animal cruelty to me.

Hopefully the dog learned its lesson and won't try to get into the neighbor's property anymore. He got lucky-- we had an obnoxious family with an equally obnoxious chihauhau on our former street, and they'd let him run loose in the neighborhood despite the fact he was vicious and bit multiple people and would especially go after little kids. He challenged a couple of guard dogs behind a fence, decided to go attack them and climbed under the fence, and got eaten for his trouble. No one but his owners grieved his demise though.

@Zoe Young Hopefully both dogs are protected from each other. It would be awful if one of them killed the other, and that seems quite possible given the horrific wounds Jimmy had. I think it's likely that every effort will be made to prevent Jimmy from getting to Bruce again. Not only for the sake of the dogs, but Frankie's life depends on it. I think her mum will make sure the dogs are safe.

you are there for the dog, the dog is not there for you. in this case, the human is so weak, anything is a threat for him, so he has to protect his property "owner" from the enemy, whoever that enemy is, even tho it's just their neighbor. every human that need a "guard dog" or "mental support dog" aren't mentally fit to own a dog. I work with dogs full time for a living the last 5 years, I have to relocate dogs every week because people don't know how to pick a dog for their life style or life situation. If a mentally ill person asks me for help with their dog, I relocate their dog, so the dog can have an actual life. Not having to be a nervous wreck from protecting a weak human. Oh a dog knows a weak human when it smells one. My recommendation to people with mental issues, get a cat. If you get healthy with a low risk of relapse, then get a dog. If old bad issues resurface, let somebody else take care of the dog until you back on your feet.

Training yes! But sometimes a dog is extremely well behaved and trained and there's just that one dog that they don't like. I had two dogs just like that that were soooooo well behaved and had no issues with any other dog, but they would get around one another and it was like WW3. No other dogs, just each other. We had to keep them separated and when I got married and moved away, my parents kept one of them

Rapidly growing lumps make me nervous of the dog. My daughter had a mass in her right upper quadrant at age three. In the 12 hours it took ofr us to reach our regional Childrens' Hospital (we ran into a terrible snowstorm so it took nearly three times as long as it would normally) the mass had grown to roughly 3/4 of her abdomen. It turned out to be hepatocellular carcinoma. Then years later my favourite cousin no*t*iced a small bump on her husband's cheek that looked like a mosquito bite. In a matter of just a few days it grew to the size of a half a grapefruit. That was a nodular melanoma! He is still with us almost 10 years later although there is still something going on with the location where the tumour was to begin with. He shouldn't be alive with such an aggressive tumour. We count our blessings that he has made it this far! Poor doggo - for his family's sake I hope it shows clear margins after the surgery.

I named my wonderful girl Kwatile, after a cheetah from an episode of Bondi Vet from a few years ago. Unfortunately, the name didn't quite fit her (it means "regal princess in Swahili according to Dr. Chris), since she was a total goofball! I abbreviated the name to Tilley but her nickname was Missa Chickabee, after a line from the Jodi Foster movie Nell. My Tilley saved my life and her cat sister's life when she alerted me to a house fire and we all got out. I hope the lovely Tilley, the Boston Terrier/Pug mix in this episode, brings her family as much love and joy as my Tilley brought me!

With the dog fight that is horrible. But you are right on the power of a dogs jaw. My pup killed a large cottontail rabbit and I skinned it. It only looked like two punctures on the outside but the inside had over 10 large punctures on the inside chest. Was sad but very intriguing to see the full damage

They aren't actually opossums in Australia. They're just possums. Opossums are native to the Americas. I've noticed many Americans call opossums possums though, even though they're different marsupials.

Ringtail possums are the really cute ones, and also tend to be more placid around people. We also have brushtail possums that are bigger and bulkier with a brush-like tail. Those ones can be nasty (but are still very cute to look at).

Not sure if these sister vets, Alison and Audrey Shen, are twins (time stamp 25:22) but if they are it is just a relief that they aren't "speaking in unison" like Bridgette and Paula Powers aka the Pelican twins

My sister's dog ate a whole loaf of banana macadamia bread and they didn't realize it until the next morning. The only after effects was some slight rear legs that were wobbly for a few days. The same dog ate a 2 lb bag of m&most with no ill after affects. That dog got into more food that she should not have gotten into despite the extensive ways my sister went to keep things away from her. I swear she had a cast iron stomach and intestinal system. Everything had to either go in the garage or on top of the fridge (6 ft up). It was crazy.

Aussie possums are very different from opossums, though they're both marsupials. They evolved on separate continents.

My little girl, Andi had her front leg torn open when a dog got into my yard. I immediately attended her to take to her vet, but what hurt me so much and just broke my heart is that not a sound came out of her mouth. She just looked at me with her beautiful eyes and she had tears on her cheeks. She's OK and I'll fetch her from her vet later, but truthfully, its hurting so bad, for both her and me.😥😢
