Gareth Roberts and Paul Cope discuss pundits from hell and how they insist on pushing a narrative using annoying stats, that outrageous finish by Darwin Nunez against Brentford and the Reds setting even more new records as they won away 4-1, as well as checking in on our title rivals and asking how we're feeling about the chances of winning number 20.

Love that yer talking about the commentators. Such poor quality. I watch the Liverpool games from Australia ( English commentary ). Some days I've been so frustrated I've had to mute it and used our mates Redmen TV's Live Watchalong for commentary. I would love to hear you lads do live coverage 🙌

I'm in Australia too and I mute the commentary as well. I'd love to be able to get the sound from the ground without the commentary. Jim Beglin does my head in to be honest and he seems to get a lot of our games on Optus.

One thing that's annoyed me recently was the fawning over Man City's "amazing run'" of seven wins in 8 since December, the "relentless/remorseless terminator chasing down" Liverpool (and Arsenal). They had played only team higher than 15th during that run, and that was Newcastle (who were 9th and had lost 5 of the previous 6, and all). 22 points out of 24 is the least City should have expected from two months of games against literal relegation strugglers (and Newcastle). They've also only won one in 6 against teams in the top half since they went back top on November 4th, but that's never mentioned at all! Of course, criticising City isn't part of the narrative; it's far easier (and lazier) just assume City are gonna win the league again.

That whole ‘they’ve dominated and been the better team’ bollocks after the first half at Brentford did my head in; there were spells were they couldn’t even get out of their first third - not half, third! - for, like, five minutes at a time. I ended up turning the sound down and having Redmen TV watch along playing simultaneously on my phone for the second half

Sorry Robbo, but I can't argue with you. And, I've just gotta tell you that I used to watch the Anfield wrap until you quit it, then there just wasn't anything on it for me. I didn't know about this podcast till a month ago. Found it, likedit and subscribed in the first five minutes. The big deal about you is that you were the first one - and maybe the only one to point out the media bias against LFC. I noticed it constantly once I was enlightened about it, and of course, it continues. I was living in Saudi Arabia at that time and watching Reds' matches on the compound restaurant's TV, and when the Arab footy fans wanted to watch the games with Arab commentary, I readily agreed (to their surprise) and explained the anti-Liverpool bias of all English commentators was now unbearable to me, but while I didn't understand the Arabic commentary, it was on Mo Salah's side, and in much better humour than any other, anyway. There's a famous Tunisian commentator who's nuts and has obvious good taste, which registers with comments like, "Ooh la la." So now that I'm back in Blighty, I'm happier since I found TLC and Live at Five. Thanks! PS: I haven't been to Anfield much, but I have stood in the Kop when I was 14, and seen Shankly commanding from the side-line, and felt Tommy Smith's tackles shake the stadium. Had to shout into my mate's ear to be heard as well. Happy days!

Oh my god yes Cope! The comment about Ferdinands interview. Not seen it but the point is so true for 99% of interviews! They will raise something really interesting which you can easily get them to elaborate on and they stick to a script and completely miss an opportunity. It’s so annoying 😂 Should just be a structured conversation not a q & a. So glad it infuriates someone else 😂

Brilliant point about Jones, Copey. He got a lot of criticism previously from certain quarters for essentially showing Klopp that he was a player capable of fulfilling instructions and doing a job for the team. Since he's come back into the side (back end of last season), it has felt he has been left off the leash a bit and overall has grown so much as a player. Such a shame he got injured, fingers crossed he's back soon.

VVD and others in the current Klopp team being most wins in first 250 is not a surprise, given: 1/ The team has been exceptional since 2017 and 2/ Our great teams in 70's and 80s often played for 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw... i.e. a draw was a sound result, whereas now 3 for a win means a more aggressive go for the win mentality... not to downplay how great the Klopp era has been - its exceptional...

I remember watching the Palace game on TNT Sports and Darren Fletcher said words to the effect of: "Why has the referee sent Ayew off as that's spoilt the game now". I was furious when I heard him say that. Commentators are supposed to react to the moments as they happen with complete impartiality, not push agendas to appease a load of so-called 'neutrals' sat at home. You'd never hear such commentary from the likes of Motson or Tyldesley, in my opinion.

Hand on heart, i was saying to my mate recently the art of lobbing/chipping the goalie has went out the game, most keepers are low ready to try stop the lower finishes. Was saying so many one v ones being saved would be a goal with a wee dink over the keeper. So Was delighted when Nunez done the chip. My mate texted me immediately referring to that conversation.

If you think you've got it hard with TNT/Sky, try being subjected to Andy Grey and Richard Keys like we are in the Middle East. Pure, ugly, carnage. They're totally out of date with modern football so they just talk about the VAR endlessly, with Keys texting his mates - Moysey, Big Sam, Reidy - for 'insights'. Gray argued Pickford's assault on Virgil and his ACL at Goodison was a fair challenge, 'not a red for me'(!!!). Keys reckoned Klopp was going to get the chop last year if he lost to Madrid. 'When you lose the press in England, you've lost your job'. It's dire, I watch the Arabic version now, just to stay sane.

It is heart warming to see the Father-Son relationship between Mo & Harvey. Did you notice that we had free kick off the right corner of the area. It looked a cert for Mo to have a shot. He stepped aside and let Harvey take it. Mo doesnt do that normally. He clearly loves and respects Harvey. I agree that Citeh are boring and robotic. Sometimes their unrelenting possesion just seems to bore the opposition to defeat. This could explain why so many City fans leave before the end. Talking of Father-Son relationships, watch Suarez talking to Nunez in Uruguay games. Nunez adores him. My Dad always complained about London bias in commentaries. This was 40 years ago. London based clubs always given more credit. Brentford now seem to benefit from this.

First thing I said to me, Ma, when she rang me and asked how was the game?... Good, but I'm fukin sick to death of this shit commentating!!! My problem is the fact that week after week, we control a game, concede a few chances, and apparently we're clinging on!! Like other teams aren't aloud to have chances. From watching us, I don't believe we're afraid of conceding chances as it opens up the number of counter attack opportunities and goals we score from... anyway, ALSO, when Nunez hits that chip.. look at Jotta's reaction... never mind Klopp.. Jotta was not fucking happy 😂

Journos and pundits aside, the fucking commentators are bad enough. Not so loong ago a commentator would do what it said on the tin, ie commentate. Nowadays you're lucky if the 'commentator' actually strings four passes during the game accompanied by the names of the players involved. Bring back Motters and Bazzer Davies, two outstanding examples of the fine art of commentary!! On another note, there seems to be a thing about anyone we play being 'the plucky underdogs' and 'aren't they doing well?', despite the fact that WE have got an injury list of players that would ALSO make a team better than most AND WE WON!!!
