That first play gave me an idea of how to create the perfect defense. If you could find 11 stretch armstrongs, they could link hands across the entire width of the field. The guys on each end could stand with a foot out of bounds, basically creating an out of bounds electrical fence across the entire width of the field.

Wait a minute. Purdue still had 51 seconds with a 1st & 25 at the 34 yard line with one timeout needing a field goal to tie? So, then the QB throws a pick on a 15 yard pass play, taking away any chance of winning and everyone is blaming the ref? The only thing that call did was take the players and coaches heads out of the game. They absolutely could've at least tied the game had they maintained their poise.

Not a huge sports guy but love the breakdowns, absolute golden content. This stirs up memories though, I went to Purdue and one of my favorite professors compared going to a home game as feeling pretty similar to a Nuremberg rally. From how the students acted, that's pretty accurate. Consider the nature of the Purdue - IU rivalry, I grew up about an hour from Bloomington (where IU is) and have spent plenty of time there. You mention Purdue at IU, you get some chuckles, mention IU at Purdue you will be bombarded by screams of "IU SUCKS" over and over by a growing crowd of loons.... At a Michigan game nonetheless. It's about as funny to see as it is pathetic. I may sound salty, but you've never been woke up at 6 am on a Saturday by a crowd of drunk frat boys back from Breakfast Club screaming about IU in the apartment next to yours... when the game that day isn't even against IU. P.S. Shoutout UGPS on the 7th floor, if you know, you know.

@@111JFish If it happened in the first half it would've been a good call? But. lets hope all arm extensions by the offense were called as OPI's,- all the way through the game - consistency.

This shouldn’t have counted anyway, #78 on the offensive line got away with a blatant hold. If not for that, the QB doesn’t even get the ball off! 😄

Correct me if wrong, but if it's clear the WR's arm goes fully extended, which is easy to tell because of the angles showing the arm extension, that is clear OPI, isn't it? It doesn't matter if the defender is pushed all the way back to the ground or just lightly pushed back, but full extension of the arm on a pass, is an OPI. It did not appear to be hand fighting, and to me, it looked like a full extension of the arm. Correct me if wrong, or if I am missing something.

Funny thing is that it was a legit PI but there should haver been one called on Minnesota also for the DB holding Durham!

As a faithful Purdue student, watching this hurts. I watched the whole game for one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the recap. Salt in the wound.

Definitely a tough call, but he did have is arm fully extended so it was easy for the ref to call even though the defender slowed down.

They must have gotten rid of the rules that used to make it illegal to use that language or to criticize referees. Looks like I have more research to do. Coaches used to get fired over such things in the past.

That is technically P.I. The defender was not turned toward the ball and the receiver was so therefore it interfered with the DBs ability to defend against the pass.
