I mean no offense by this question and have the up most respect for you. Would or have you considered making a video on how you lost your leg, and its advantages and disadvantages in fighting in harness. I really love your videos they're very informative and I've learnt a lot from you guys. Another great video!

Alternate title - "Pursuing the Knightly Arts: Crotch Shots!" :) Great video. Really enjoy seeing the details of putting on different types of armor.

Reece it would be awesome for you to have the rest of the mechanical leg covered with a matching greave and a pair of sabatons. Like Gotz von Berlichingen! Godspeed my friend!

Great video lads, it's cool that you can have disadvantages and benefits of the different levels of armour.

Weather wasn't great here either guys, can't imagine trying to fight in armour when it's near forty degrees. I've heard surcoats were a way of protecting the armour from the weather, would is also act like an insulating layer to prevent armour heating up too much in say summer?
@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841
@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we've heard that as well. Ben and I plan to get surcoats made soon, but it'll be warmer weather when they're completed. If it's cold we might still attempt to practice, cuz we're crazy and dedicated lol. I'm generally curious how it would feel, as we know metal is a heat sync, it'll feel a lot colder. Question: For times when the weather is bad, what sort of videos would you like to see? We can cover a range of topics for discussion. -Reece

When the weather is too bad for filming outside stuff, there is book stuff you can do, like if you know what you want to do in the next practical video, you can prep your audience with some manual stuff before hand. People might think that's a little boring. Have you lads talked about why you chose those particular armours before?

fantastic video as always! I love these episodes a little more nerd ahahah and if I can give my opinion too I would like to see some comparison between the different types of armor that you and the other guys in the company have, for example differences between the size of the mail's rings and what are the pros and cons of having mail above or below the arm harness or to have a brigandine or a "normal" cuirass and some advice on books weapons(i see you will made the next video about it) etc. I focused a bit too much on the mail but there are many other things you can talk about a quick question, what are your chausses made of? wool?

Awesome video guys . I was really wondering how the floating articulation work on the harness and it’s like a fauled I’m going to take that into account for when I start building my Early 14th century kit thanks !

About how thick are your arming doublets? I have an arming coat I wear when portraying a gallowglass and it's not horribly thick and allows for almost perfect movement besides the chain restrictions.

Those neck pieces are fantastic! Where did you get yours or are they custom jobs? It looks like Ben's has a worn spot on the back of the leather in the exact spot that my Cuirass rubs against my gambeson and has worn a hole, so I'm thinking that I should invest in one of those neck leather bits with a back portion.

It doesn't take that long, you just have to drag it into the chest slot. :P For real, though, I love all the detail shown here. I like Ben's harness more but Reece's helm is awesome. Any reason you guys don't have maille voiders for your arm/elbow pit and back of leg?

This may sound like a funny question but you both have great hair, does this ever get caught in your mail on the helmets? Also do neither of you use chain mail sleeves? was this out dated by the time of your harness?

Do you guys wear any additional padding? Or are your arming clothes enough? They seem a little bit thin to me, but I'm sure that the heat reduction is a big plus.
@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841
@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841 6 жыл бұрын
Nope, what you see is what we wear :) Arming clothes seem to be enough. You see in historical sources that's all they wear too, as the plate armour is enough protection for most things. You do see padding and mail back behind the legs is several effigies and we hope to add those later on to see what we can learn about them. Thanks for the comment! Hope you enjoyed the video! -Reece

You should keep in mind that armour is made to protect against many different attacks. Modern HMB and reenactor equipment only has to defend against blunt impacts, and you see extreme (and inaccurate) amounts of padding.

Looks good, two nice suits. The doublets of historic enterprises are ok, but not the best on the market, but those work at least in most cases. Are you this year end septembre again in Lauschröden at the Harnischfecht Symposium?
