Thank you to the book summary app Blinkist for sponsoring this video. The first 100 people to go to www.blinkist.c... will receive free unlimited access for 1 week and 25% off if you decide to get the full membership.
In this video, we explore the human longing for existential freedom, the likely impossible delusion of it being achieved in the way we hope, and the paradoxical concept of freeing oneself from the ideal of freedom in order to overcome this delusion.

@angieorozco94
@angieorozco94 3 жыл бұрын
@@MindNow Well I got out of a 5 year relationship in January, and just erasing the future I was counting on has been difficult, but I am trying to move forward as best I can. And I just kept thinking, "this is my life now, and I need to go through it alone." I always knew this on a fundamental level but its hard to accept once you have felt so connected to someone, which I have always wanted. Also my mom and step dad are currently living with me and my step dad has terminal lung cancer and I think their feelings and emotions are effecting me. I'm an empath so I can feel people's emotions much stronger than my own. So I'm thinking that my step dad's existential dread of having to accept his death is what brought on those feelings. I personally am not afraid of death, I understand that it's inevitable and it's just a part of life. And I am just lucky to be alive in the first place.

I was on acid once and felt that the most honest conclusion to my existence was to end it. It was frightening. It seems that to be alive is to deceive myself and others to some extent. To fundamentally deviate from "my" "true" essence. Slapping me right in my face that I'm lazy, unkind, inconsistent, imperfect, and will always be. Very uncomfortable yet humbling in a weird way. Maybe someone can change my perspective. I don't know. I. I don't even. It's a figment. I hold onto something that isn't even. It's all falling and this "thing" that is "me" falls with "it". I'm a mess as I fall yet I desperately try to hold this "thing"/"feeling" together. Like I'm greedily holding onto something that was never "mine" in the first place. That to truly let go is to be free, from "it". From existence as I know it. As though if I died, there would be some celebration that I let this thing go once and for all. That then I'd finally truly be free from the confines of existence. It makes no sense but maybe it does? "If there is a god, I have questions." - an agnostic Peace. P.S. No, I'm not currently on acid or any drugs for that matter, heh.

Perhaps the most free we can be is, when our mind is free from idea and urge of freedom. If you don't know anything, you're free to not be burdened by the knowledge and perhaps even know anything, if you so choose. To bad you can't go there anymore, at least not in a way, that would feel continuous to your own existence. The second best thing is perhaps to stop caring.

This reminds me of the great master of letting go, Guru Laghima. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve never heard of him. Guru Laghima was an 🌬Nomad guru and renowned poet who lived 4,000 years ago. It is said that in his meditations he discovered the secret to weightlessness, which allowed him to unlock the latent ability of flight. This essentially allowed Laghima to become untethered from the earth and live the last forty years of his life without ever touching the ground. On the freedom from ourselves, Guru Laghima said “Instinct is a lie, told by a fearful body, hoping to be wrong.” To free ourselves from fear and the other things that bind us, we are reminded by one of his most famous poems: 出尘世羁绊 入虚无如风 Let go of the earthly tether, (and) enter the void as wind. Or more popularly Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void. And become wind. Not by seeking freedom but by letting go even of the yearning for freedom and all earthly desires and concerns can we become as wind, passing untethered to the earth.

I think I thought about something like this when I was 11... or 12. Anyways I've always been a fan of anime and I just observed them living their lives to their fullest from the other side of the screen. I've imagined myself living in the anime with them, imagining myself as a pirate or a ninja but then at times I'd compare the character's lives and the life I live in my imagination and compared them to my actual life. I always yearned to live like them but I just never felt fulfilled in life. When I compare my life to there's, it was like I was breathing but not living. I thought about how society worked in the anime compared to real life. I had thoughts like society here is always binding you restricting you of freedom. Every day was the same; I would wake up, go to school, come home, do my homework eat, watch anime, then sleep. There was no meaning in any of that. I had no goals. Nothing I felt devoted to. Nothing I looked forward to. Society has just about everything planned out for me. I have to go to school for about the first two decades of my life to secure an undetermined future that I had no interest in. I started losing interest in everything in my life. I stopped caring about family, friends, grades and pretty much everything else. Everything seemed dull to me. I wouldn't mind dying, but I don't mind living either. Honestly if I had to choose, I would prefer dying because I was interested in what would happen. My parents were religious but I've always questioned their religion from a young age so I'm secretly not actually a believer but if they knew that who knows what would happen to me. Anyways I've never tried suicide because I'm not the greatest fan of pain, but if someone tried to threaten my life, I wouldn't be phased. So anyways, I fully acknowledged that I had no freedom. I feel like I went completely off topic, but this comment is too long so I don't want to read over it.

Freedom is our capacity to solve every single one of our own problems. Any problem that we can't solve for ourselves is to the degree that we aren't free. Wherever we seek permission is because we're reliant and this is why we must develop ourselves to employ the wisdom we can demonstrate.

Free will is the gift humankind has been given that allows each being to freely choose their ideas and what they wish to believe or not believe. Our ability through the choices we make, to create new circumstances and environment, relationships, achievement or failure, prosperity or poverty. There is no way that man may escape what he thinks, says or does [i.e., the fruits of his free will]-for he is born of the Divine Creative Consciousness power and is likewise creative in his imagining.

Hello Pursuit of Wonder watched all your videos and gave them a like, im in a hard period in my life and i dont feel like i can trust my thoughts anymore. Everything becomes darker and darker as days past and suicidal thoughts and endless thinking of my failure in life and me giving up. i lack motivation and i sometimes feel both lost, empty, hopeless and miserable. I can't really be happy without any reasoning or knowledge of hope but thats what your videos bring me! i Become extremely happy everytime you post a video because im sure its a banger everytime. so i drew 2 drawings that resemble both a pursuit of wonder and searching for a purpose while drawing the complete opposite: feeling Lost and i used the figure in my profile picture haha. these emotional states have pushed me to become extremly artistic and loving everything related to creation. what i am kinda asking for haha is a video so deep i would cry like it has to go so so so deep that i might get special knowledge i never thought about, i am already really deep into my thoughts but i think if you made a video more emotional using big words and describing in full details as you always do, or just explain your own thoughts, i would probably have enough knowledge to help someone else in need. i already helped like 100 people with suicidal thoughts because i kinda like the sad mood and i could as well help someone i have been depressed for almost 7 years if im correctly and never had enough energy to keep being happy. I really need something that goes into my soul something that really really hits hard and which is both something that can really bring me into the right mind process. you really inspired me and helped me through hell, now i want to guide others! i really need to cry again haha idk i know its much to ask for, and i know you might not read this message because its long. thank you for everything i hope everyone will find purpose and happiness in their lives. and i kinda wish you narrated my life haha and pls give credits to the other guy who started out 3-4 years ago :) he was also an inspiration!!
