Great video but not solving my problem. I have a Victa Sports 2 mower and over about the past year the throttle will not stay in the set position. Set the throttle in any position (I generally run the mower at a low engine speed setting), but as soon as you release the throttle lever it almost immediately starts to physically move to a higher engine speed and after about 20secs the engine is running at full speed. The only way to stop this is to hold the throttle lever in the desired position why mowing, which can be quite difficult. VCan you possibly advise what would be causing this problem and is there an easy fix. Any assistance/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, Picked up an old 1984 powertorque Mustang, and the throttle cable does not come out enough in the 'stop' position to engage with the cam. I have to push it down to 'start' in order to give it enough length to engage the ball into the cam slot. After starting the mower, the engine is at full revs in both 'start' and when I push it to 'run', but it only cuts out when I put the throttle control between the two (as the cable length is too short to allow the throttle control to go back to 'stop'). Does this sound like a new throttle cable is needed? Or is there some type of issue with the cable that can be fixed?

Thank You #pushmowerrepairs , this is the 2nd video of yours i have used to repair a mower.. currently i have a Victor 2 stroke that wont start . i did the usual carby clean / air filter etc , i have spark when plug is outside of the head but when i screw it in it wont fire so i checked throttle cable making sure it was working Ok then I tried the spark plug covered in fuel to see if i could get some sort of ignition but nothing , any idea's . Going to sound silly but is the Rev range high low high on these? Mine on start is high in the middle low and obviously high on run I'm so confused...

what if the cam moves but doesn't change the idle at all
